Did i say "happily" or mention being "contented"?
Would i refuse to do work proper to my grade that i am trained to do inside my contracted hours?
No...that would be taking a stupid and pointless risk with my employment security.

How would you defend yourself at an Employment Tribunal?
I was asked to prep and deliver extra D2D and i refused because someone else should have.
Were you trained to do this work?....yes.
Were you forced to work outside your contracted hours against your wishes?....no.
Should we phone you a taxi now?

As for the other guy if Royal Mail want to do it by the book they conduct him for not doing last week's D2D and they would conduct you for refusing to do them this week.
That would make things better.....yes/no? :cuppa
Gotta to disagree, d2ds are weekly. It's the managers responsibility weekly to get d2ds done. Yeah the sensible thing would be to take them and work your hours. As for employment tribunal i doubt it would get that far as more individuals would be implicated. Rm have no case either.

And?
First class is meant to go out the following day but if you came in after your day off and the floater had left half a tray of first class under your frame what would you do?
You would expect the floater to be in bother and you would expect the line manager to get bollocked for not spotting it but would you actually refuse to deliver it?

You have to completely separate the original issue of who was to blame for not delivering the mail/D2D and who should have monitored that from your refusal to carry out a reasonable instruction because as far as RM and an ET are concerned they are not related.

Nothing worse than coming in to see you've been stitched up by either managers or colleagues.
Tantrums or working to your time or not it gets to some people.

And as for the colleagues bit, where's the moral in the game, was it an easy finish,or a just about finish, was it a good bit of docket.

Manager says leave that Bob will do them next week i need to get this s**t out........f**k off!

We're working with c***s.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It does but it's important you don't make regrettable decisions based on the emotion of the moment.
First stop should be your rep, this is exactly the sort of mess a rep should be cleaning up both immediately by making sure any extra resource that is needed is made available without pressure being applied to the member to work over and in the long-term through the weekly resource meeting to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Manager says leave that Bob will do them next week i need to get this s**t out........f**k off!.
I know that's not what you are saying but it worries me when people leave advice like "just refuse to take them" on these threads.
Firstly i wonder if it's just bluster and bullshit and they just wish they had the courage to say something like that and secondly it's bad advice because...it isn't your job you're advising them to put on the line.

The guy who left them behind is a lazy back-stabbing c***.
The line manager is useless f***ing coward.
Neither fact will protect your job.

The same happens in our office and i know how it can get you angry stressed and pissed off.
The only thing you can do is is take your time throwing up the lazy fekers leaflets and then do your time and break off.It does get tedious with the astonished looks of the managers and have to put up with their bleeting all the time, just be prepared to do your time that you are paid to then you can just cut off and go home.Better still let the union rep sort it out, that is of course if you have one,if you dont get one down and get them to sort it.We are here to do a job and not to have to put up with the harrasment and stress that these manager pr**s put us under.
Also be aware that if you do go over half the time they try to rob of your overtime anyway so best not bother,i know of a chap in my office who is owed a good 20 odd hours of work he has been owed this now for a good 3 months. The mind boggles really why do these people even bother.
