RM probably needed a kick up the arse a few years back. Mick Linsell (formers Ops Director) had run out of ideas. The problem with this approach is that we have a service that is more business focused and less of a social service.
Big banks provide by far the largest business. Lloyds TSB and Royal Bank of Scotland dwarf even other customers in the top 100.
The inidividual poster and small businesses are generally the one's to suffer and internal satisfaction with wages etc... is a mute point. The survey they carry out would indicate people are happier, but then you know what thy say about statistics.
Look what happened to BT and British Gas. I reckon Royal Mail might get broken up into wholesale (large business posters) and retail for smaler businesses and individuals. This debate is going on at the moment and the regulator is consulting on what to do.
The UK is the first country (significant) in Europe to be privatised and everyone is watching to see how it might work elsewhere e.g. France. France is way behind because of the strength of their union (maybe a lesson to be learn't?)
Is Crozier worth his salary? Personally I think he is having actually worked alongside him for a time and also having worked on the frontline. I really think the company would have gone to the wall without some drastic surgery. Some of it has been painful, but almost all drastic change is painful!

Don't let his quiet smile suggest he is a pushover. I've seen him screw various people over. Was he pushed? Or did he jump from the FA? When he came to RM it was in debt, but they made it out to be worse than it was.
I don't know many people in these positions who haven't screwed others over, be it the unions, government or business.
Having said that he said hello to me once and knew my name. That was alot more than some senior management who wouldn't give me the time of day, but when they found out stuff I was working on suddenly tried to become your best mate. Those people piss me off more than any others out there.
I prefer people who tell me to my face that they don't like or my views, but those who smile and then stab you in the back are the one's I can't stand.
