Drivers faced serious delays after one of Greater Manchester's main roads was closed for more than three hours this morning.

Trinity Way in Salford was closed near its junction with Blackfriars when a pedestrian suffered a serious head injury in a collision with a Royal Mail van.

The incident happened at about 7.20am.

Blackfriars was closed while paramedics tended to the man, who was said to be conscious and breathing at the scene.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Trinity Way was re-opened at about 10.30am.

In another incident, the driver of a Golf was hurt in a collision with a van at the junction of Trafford Road and Eccles New Road in Salford.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident at 9.10am.

In a third incident this morning, no-one was seriously hurt when a BT van and a car were involved in a collision on the Mancunian Way at the junction with Regent Road.
