[? Surely the name "Trustees" implies just that and Royal Mail can't just alter the pension scheme without their say so,or do they just rubber stamp what Royal Mail say.The "trustees" should have known years ago there would be a pension defecit but did nothing,it's THEIR fault we're in this mess including the Union nominated trustees.[/quote]

Sorry to have to tell you tommango but rm can alter the pension without the trustees say so. The trustees are responsible for the investment side and not the setting of terms and conditions. RE the defecit thats a combination of stock market performance, not enough funds going in, and the thing that the labour government tries to play down THE REMOVAL OF 5 BILLION POUNDS FROM THE FUNDS YEAR ON YEAR AND IT'S STILL GOING ON NOW. you might like to note there was no defecit untill brown started taking this money, and what i find mind numbing is the people who would still vote for this haggis munching twat :mad :mad :mad

The "excuse" used by Senior Mgt is that by taking a break , it saved RM paying any tax ??!!

If they manage to get away with this daylight robbery, what would happen if you left the scheme before the change over date?
would your pension be frozen and then paid out on a final salary basis or would your final payout still be based on an average earnings scheme?
