Re: weight off shoulder
The trolleys maybe slower but are far preferable to carrying a bag. I have found my legs and feet dont ache as much. Why would anyone want to revert back to shoulder bags?

The reward is that they will finish earlier. How many can honestly say that each day that their conscious or unconscious thought is not getting home as soon as possible. I really have to talk to myself (no, not going senile) and say, slow down, this is not a race, and why are you rushing around as an extra 30 minutes at home is nothing, whereas a knackered body is.

Re: weight off shoulder
Better to be 30 minutes slower on a single day, than early in your grave or hospital bed. Simple As.Lincox wrote:The reward is that they will finish earlier. Re: weight off shoulder
we all get paid the same so do your FULL days work. If you think you will finish early , pace yourself . They hold it against you if you owe them time but don't give you anything if you go over.
Why are lino's paid full-time ??

Re: weight off shoulder
LWT's & HCT's with park and loop DOES NOT PROTECT JOBS!
EG: 10 WALKS using Bikes
= Max amount carried
at any one time is
1 bag on front & 2 paniers. Drop bags are needed which have to be brought out by a DRIVER.
So we have 11 Duties in this pool with 11 people in it.
Reduce this to CDV's with park and loop:
'Oh dear', we now have
4 CDV duties covering the same area of calls,
Using LWT's with only 8 Staff (2 per van) because they can carry more weight over al
than using a bikel.
The drop bag driver's duty content has diminished so his duty has gone in the revision.
So that's 2 walkmen gone and 1 driver,
A NET LOSS OF 3 JOBS!
As if that isn't bad enough, because we are now using a CDV and trollies they can throw as much
s**t as they like at you (and they will) because ,
You DON'T need drop bags
You DON'T need drop boxes,
You DON'T have a weight restriction on what you can get in the van.
(When the time comes, you will be given a bigger van)
You DON'T have 'conveyance' issues as you do with a bike (eg drivers parcels),
because you will be taking THE DRIVING DUTY work with you that he used to do.
End result = LESS JOBS
INCREASED WORKLOAD
INCREASED FATIGUE
UNLIMITED WORK LOAD CAPACITY
A POORER SERVICE
AND A DEMORALISED WORK FORCE!!!!!!!!!

Re: weight off shoulder
THE BICYCLE WILL MAKE A MASSIVE COME BACK BUT A TRICYCLE WOULD BE BETTER FOR OUR LINE OF WORK.
Bicycles are 'go anywhere' vehicles, they already 'TAKE WEIGHT OFF THE SHOULDER'.
No matter how allegedly 'green' these CDV's are claimed to be, a bicycle will ALWAYS be 'greener.
CDV's will need inspections, MOT's, sevicing etc, a bicycle needs only a small amount of maintainance.
CDV's will ADD to the office Budget with FUEL COSTS. A bicycle never will.
A CDV will let 2 duties down in one go, a bicycle only one duty if it breaks down.
You can push the bike round you CAN'T push the van.
A CDV can run out of fuel, a cyclist needs only a chocolate bar.
A Van can get stuck in traffic, a bicycle can cut through the traffic.
A van can't take short cuts, a bicycle can.
ARE WE GETTING THE PICTURE ROYAL MAIL??? mmmm........?
I seem to remember that when they got rid of the TRAMS in the 1950's we were told that diesel buses were the way forward.
NOW EVERYBODY WANTS A TRAM SYSTEM.......Well done Blackpool for seeing sense and commiserations to my home city Liverpool who got shut in 1957, then wanted them back 10 years ago and were told....
'Err....NO! it's too epensive you should never have got rid of them....sorry.'
'Lessons learned eh?' Well not by Royal Mail it seems.
