I for one will use my "discretion" to only deliver to the original address. If anything goes missing, who was the last person to have the item. Oh that would be the postie, well we had better have a fact finding interview with him then! (also known as the Spanish inquisition). No thanks!

we got some new P739s in for use from Sept 23rd (or thereabouts,cant quite recall)
pointless really as we are a trial office

As for the union announcement. its simply more of delivery posties being on their own
So you forecast you may not complete because you have a bag of packets and dont know how many will be in and how many neighbours you will be trying?

The actual D2D states

So from late September, subject
to regulatory approval, if you're not
in when we try to deliver, we'll leave
your item with a neighbour wherever
possible and pop a card through your
door to tell you where you can pick up
your parcel.

The worrying thing will be the number of complaints for items returned to the DO, the text I coloured implies that returning items for collection will be a rare occurrence.

I'm also wondering if they'd have been better advised to:

• …inform the recipients which item(s) were covered
  the leaflet mentions items that don't fit through your letter box and This does not apply to standard size letters but the Final Agreed Document states Packets, Tracked, and Recorded Signed for products are all included in the new service.
  Special Delivery and International items requiring a signature are not part of the service and normal operational processes will continue to apply to these items.
  
  I thought there was a difference between packets and parcels so what is done with parcels? as they are not mentioned specifically. Also what is the situation with standard sized signed for letters?
