Back to a vague system where the "postie on the street" makes a decision - and when it goes t*ts up ...

Peeps should NOT have to "opt out" - they should have to "opt in" - and the "opt in" stickers should specify which neighbours to deliver to - that way we "on the street" are covered.

But maybe that's TOO bloody obvious ...

Another great idea which has not been thought through properly ...
"We're under model" - oh no we're not - stick your lapse elsewhere ...

It being thought out depends on which direction you look at it, from RMs point of view, most people won't bother to opt out out, so more items being left with neighbours, along with park and loop for deliveries, reduces the amount of work done at D.Os, some will be able to be closed altogether, allowing RM to sell prime buildings, usually in the centre of town. Not good for the public, not good for the posties, but great for short term profits.

Also, as well as phoning to opt out, you also have to put a red sticker on your door just so RM won't take your belongings to a neighbour.

They've got it backwards. Why should I have to have a royal mail sticker on my door just so they don't deliver my stuff elsewhere?

I opted out just to see what happened and I got a 2"x1" sticker to stick on my letterbox which after a few downpours will peel off anyway .

from the ltb today linked above
''it is recognised that this new service may involve some extended delivery as a consequence of delivering to alternative addresses and this should be dealt with using normal local procedures, extended delivery time resulting from delivering to a neighbor should be recorded as such.''

managers say 1 thing union the opposite

... and when your neighbours walk past your house and see a sticker which basically says "I don't trust you lot" ... suppose it does wonders for on-street harmony ...
