Christmas recruitment begins today (September 5)

Our Christmas recruitment begins today (September 5).

We will be recruiting around 18,000 people to help us sort and deliver the Christmas mailbag of around two billion items.

We know from previous years that many of you have friends and family who are looking for work opportunities, and we hope you will pass the message to them about the chance to work for us this year.

Applications will be accepted from 5 September. Positions across shifts and attendance patterns will be available between early November and mid January.

The peak of the additional temporary work will obviously be in December. These positions will support our postmen and women who sort and deliver the mail all year round.

What we’re looking for

Hard-working people to work mainly in processing roles at mail centres, mail preparation units and packet sorting centres.

No previous mail industry experience is necessary as training is provided.

We will recruit all employees directly and pay them via the Royal Mail payroll system.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome all applications. Apply now...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

this sounds crazy, but that 18,000 sounds down on last year, where I think it was 22,000 but I could have that totally wrong.

Is it just me or is the recruitment website borked? I'd say its just under heavy load but its stopped working at the same point during application about a dozen times... :Boo hoo!

Edit: straight after 'where did you hear about this vacancy' it breaks I mean.

I have messed up on my application. Personal details remain the same but I have my application down as "on-going" on IT Technical Voluntary :/. I tried to amend my error but the status says already received. Can't see that being such a problem but it's not entirely truthful. I was meant to remove it but didn't see it at the time I was looking through my old details. I also couldn't find the papers I had from Angard with the Payroll number, shift manager etc so I skipped that question.

I didn't get the issues you guys/girls are getting though. A little strange a website such as Royal Mail is having connection issues, it should be able to handle a high load of traffic with relative ease.

Yeh, same situation when applying(I'm getting the blank screen and on the web address it says "=INIT_NIBARRED" web address) I applied during day about 12pm and kept on trying until 3pm for London jobs but still > blank screen, then refresh > where did you hear ad> select and BLANK screen again and I can't complete my application. I was thinking maybe I didn't finish my previous application for a different position in JULY and now they have barred me from applying again(which seems kind of unfair if it is).

However I did do a quick test which might mean it could be a technical glitch and nothing to do with my previous applications; I entered a different national insurance number to mine but it still goes to a blank screen. So now I'm completely confused! I think I will try applying 1am in the morning when there aren't like 10,000 trying to apply at the same time. Anyone one else having any luck?

Hi,

I applied online for Sheffield, everything seemed OK got confirmation that my application had been received and everything but i just checked my account and it now says i applied for Norwich Outhouse, but still has the Sheffield Address here it is

"CHRISTMAS CASUAL - NORWICH OUTHOUSE - LATES

Contract Type
Christmas Casual Engagement
Employer
Royal Mail Letters
Address
First Post House
Brightside Lane
SHEFFIELD

could it just be a technical error or should i email them??
