MRM.COM:Getting Xmas plans under way early

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/nation ... -under-way" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We’re starting our preparations early by recruiting extra people

This year we will be recruiting around 20,000 people to help us sort and deliver the Christmas mailbag of around two billion items.

We know from previous years that many of you have friends and family who are looking for work opportunities, and we hope you will pass the message to them about the chance to work for us this year.

Applications will be accepted from 5 September – a week today. We will remind you in a week’s time – but circle the date in your diary now!

Positions across shifts and attendance patterns will be available between early November and mid January.

The peak of the additional temporary work will obviously be in December. These positions will support our postmen and women who sort and deliver the mail all year round.

What we’re looking for

Hard-working people to work mainly in processing roles at mail centres, mail preparation units and packet sorting centres.

No previous mail industry experience is necessary as training is provided.

:funneh We will recruit all employees directly and pay them via the Royal Mail payroll system. :left:

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome all applications.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

So what abut us still with Angard? I recently posted that it was farewell as Canterbury was now closed to processing....ha ha had a feeling I would be back. Mail sort (2,3) seems to be a problem with Medway unable to handle the work so we are back up and running Saturday shifts. Hopefully this will keep us busy until Christmas. I have heard that Canterbury will be used as a sort office for packets. But I guess my question is if they are looking for bodies for Christmas WHY have I not been told already? 2 years experience, security checked, experience. Ha bet the job goes to some wet uni bod who couldn't give a toss. Grrrrr rant over.

Hello

New to this, started working through Angard recently. Is it worth applying to get a job with Royal Mail?? Would be keen to know as I am looking to make this a more regular thing, if possible.

Are they really recruiting directly, or is it only for the Mail Centres etc they're recruiting directly?

I know that for the Stoke site, on the MDEC over christmas, they're doing the same as last year and recruiting a bunch of people - but the same company (Reed, who are owned by Angard) are doing all the recruiting, not Royal Mail.
