Christmas 2012 - RM to recruit and pay directly

this morning along with my payslip i received a letter stating:
"Royal mail will be recruiting xmas casuals from september.......these roles are to supplement the current angard staff...therefore we ask you to refrain from applying for the short term 'Christmas only roles"
Just interested in peoples views, will you stick with angard on our inflated pay rate or will you go back to royal mail directly on national minimun wage?
Personally I am sticking with angard as although their not great employers I am getting paid a good wage weekly and on time regularly, although i may have to review my stance if i go 6 weeks without work and drop back down to nmw (unlikely to happen biggest gap had between work is 2 weeks)

I received a Easter card from RM and tried to apply then for Christmas work but it failed as they hadnt got jobs available at the time

I have also received the card and the letter about Angard still doing work and the Christmas casuals supplement the regular Angard personnel.

The one problem with this is that I was transferred to Angard by the Royal Mail last year and was given a 50 week contract which started mid November so my contract runs out around the 1st November with no indication of what happens then. Will it be renewed - no idea. Do I need to apply again to Angard - no idea. Do I need to apply to RM for Christmas work - no idea. Can Angard or Royal Mail tell me - guess what - they dont know and need to check to find out what I need to do,

It appear's i'm not liked then because I didn't get one. They really screwed up last year on the countless times I was told to go to the specific page to select an interview date and time and each time there was nothing there. I even got a letter saying I had failed to turn up for an interview that I never had in the first place. So how I was supposed to turn up when I didn't even know I had got one is beyond me!!

Do Anguard supply staff during the year as I have been applying in vain all year without success and worry the above interview that I never knew about has screwed this up too...

I've also had the same letter from Angard and thought it had a slightly threatening tone where they say "Angard staffing will continue to supply Royal Mail and therefore we ask you to refrain from applying for the short term 'christmas only' roles in order that we can secure supply to Royal Mail through Angard during this critical period" A bit of a cheek asking us to help them out!
Last Christmas I had 5 nights per week work with Angard but since I've only been getting one or two shifts per week, so it does appear that the choice is lots of hours with Royal Mail on national minimum wage or no guarentee of work and just being called in when needed but on a proper wage with Angard. I'm also interested in other people's view. Has anyone heard anything else from Angard about it? Are we likely to be offered a decent number of hours per week?

Staying with Angard as I will probably be paid more .

Also, the shorterm Christmas role last for 4-5 weeks. My Angard contract is 50 weeks.

The problems I was having with the postcaard seem to have been forgotten now. I was contacted today (by the staffer at Reed who'd been dealing with me for years, weirdly enough) alerting me to the work at _______ MDEC which has come up. I'm at the state of "application received". IIRC, I just wait for assessment dates to come up: is this right? Last year, they told me late in September (I seem to recall it was the 24th) and the very next day I was at the assessment, a formality as far as I was concerned, then I sat round (not literally, I was working for someone else, but in the sense of getting no meaningful communication from RM or Angard) until November.

I am confused as well as few weeks back I got postcard from royal mail to apply, I did and my status changed to "Christmas 2012 Registration - Application Received".

Yesterday I got an SMS and email from Reed to apply with reference "xma12mdec3".

What are the implications if I apply again with this reference through Angard or otherwise will I be working through Royal Mail based on my application few weeks back ?

Please can anyone clarify the situation if those who received postcard still need to re-apply again with reference "xma12mdec3" or not ?

I applied for the Mdec yesterday, I registered a few weeks ago, but applied 'properly' yesterday after getting a text, I just filled in work history and equal opportunity questions things like that, after sending that off there was also a mini timed test thing as well which Iv never done before, and Iv applied and worked at the Mdec for the last 2 years, it was easy enough though.

After doing that I got an email this morning to book in for the assessment which Iv now done.

I don't really get what the registration was all about to be honest as In that application it said 'You will be asked to formally apply once our Christmas recruitment campaign commences.' I don't know if the registration was just set up as a reminder service or something like that?

Hi,

I worked with Angard during Christmas 2011 and we was all messed about at our depot, I know full well that it happened everywhere as I was a regular on this forum.

I received a card, and applied today. I just wanted to know will I have a very good chance at getting employed temporarily because I did the job very well before? I never took Angard to court like some people did, but I don't disagree with their decision as some of the people were treated horribly. This time the depot has changed to Manchester instead of the town I live in, Angard don't seem to be in charge this time around at the depot I'd be working at.

I did my work very well last time and was sent onto the World Codes which was a tough test compared to the local postcodes especially for me. I completed the work no questions asked, but my only issue was with Angard, and as many of you was in the same situation they messed us all about where cash was concerned. I never walked out, I continued with my work as I had just finished college a few months prior and had very little experience. I just don't know where I stood with Angard at the end of it because of supposedly oweing them a bit of money which I don't believe I do as I was taxed almost £200 for 3 weeks work and never received a penny back, and also the pay slips never added up. Under 21 on £4.98 and being taxed a majority of my wage. I just hope problems with Angard wouldn't affect my application as I got the opportunity last time fairly easily, I have the experience on that job, worked extremely well in that job but may not get offered back because of Angard. I can't be certain of that but I can't rule it out. What do you guys/girls think? Also if my birthday is on the 9th November would that affect my application because I would have to be paid the national minimum for an adult instead of a teen wage?
