Ever feel like taking VR ?

sometimes I do get fed up and feel like taking VR, the only problem is there is not much in the way of jobs in my town, it is quite depressing to what is happening in Royal Mail and Pensions including the direction the whole Business is taking, management attitude toward its staff etc

how do you feel chaps ? probably the same.

Yeah, know how you feel. The only reason I'm hanging on is that with over 20 years service I get 6 weeks A/L, and if I went somewhere else I'd only get 4 weeks. Also a lot of employers only take on people fom employment agencies, or on short term or part time contracts now - which is the way RM is going too.
I had hoped to retire at 60 but if RM does change the retirement age to 65, I would have to stay on as I couldn't afford to take a 25% cut in my pension - London is a very expensive place to live.

I already have another job lined up but my problem is I can't get VR!! and I'm not leaving otherwise, I have put too much time and effort into this job to be forced out by a pair of money grabbing, job killing, selfish, short sighted lackeys whose only remit is to cut jobs and increase profits enormously so the board can cream off millions while the rest of us have to subsist. Without the workers no company would survive yet the people at the top treat us with total disrespect.

I'd take a close look at the proposals baldrick - even working to 65 you will end up with a smaller pension and have to contribute for 5 years longer as well as work for 5 years longer.

there's so much negativity on all the threads on this site lately and quite understadably so, but i remain quietly confidentthat a lot of the doom and gloom won't happen. the pensions rip off proposals will surely have to be compromised for existing employees especially if we are supported by the screws and our own forthcoming IA possibly up to xmas pressure time should help acheive this. flexibility? how flexible are you? i for one won't be going any faster so i can cover part of another walk for fa. households without getting paid? don't make me laugh. the recycling plants will be working overtime. RM must know that their proposals are unworkable so they are going for the worst possible scenario knowing that any compromise would at least push some of the s**t through,in theory anyway.like i said not all of us are flexible enough to make any of it work, so don't despair, chins up everyone. the gooners top as well, ain't life grand.

BOB is right, it's not gonna turn out as bad as all that it's just a case of the bosses putting in the worst possible offer as a starting bargaining point. the union will make their bid and we will HOPEFULLY meet somewhere in the middle.....well we would in a sensible negotiation, as i have already seen AL and AC make a habit of avoiding sensibility.

I don't want to meet in the middle I want all the strings removed before I'll agree to anything
