As you can probably guess, I know f**k-all about Royal Mail, i've been out of uni for 3 years, pretty much wasting time in a council admin job - to be honest, if it paid more i'd probably stick with it.

I can do a bit of research and spout bollocks for 15 minutes over the phone but i'm guessing if i actually get one of these jobs I'm going to be as hated as all the other graduates you've had to put up with.

ah well,

tom
How the hell did you find this site then?
He's a graduate - he's obviously doing some research before his interview.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

So I have one night to learn ALL THAT? :Very Happy

Seriously though, they can't all be mindless idiots can they? There are a lot of managers above me at the council who know nothing and can't seem to distinguish between necessary and unnecessary procedures - basically i spend the whole day trying not to do jobs that i think are pointless.

Ah, and i found this page by typing "Royal Mail" Forum into google. I just wanted to know what rm workers thought of the graduate intake.

You'll find out for yourself in due course, but don't expect to be able to hold a conversation with any of them about literature, politics, art, music or any of the issues of the day. If you want to discuss those things, you're better off asking a postie.

I dont know if you learn it or just have that makeup in your genes...?

Now TOM....

To answer your first Q: On Royal Mail SENIOR SCREWS OR known as SHINEY SCREWS : A: YES

The rest is much like your SENIOR SCREWS at your place now...The fact you already know how to do a "NOT TO DO JOB" IS a bonus for you,, That word BONUS is another you have to get used to as well... :d'oh!

But stop all that "FREE THINKING FOR UR SELF" MATE as RM see this as the height of "BAD FORM" & "INSUBORDINATION" The "typing in" you done to find this site is a NO NO :no no from the start :no no This shows you have the dreaded "FREE THOUGHT" that will have junior screws wetting there pampers and senior ones shuffling off in to a broom cupboard somewhere for a overdose... we hope :pray

RM NEVER NEVER NEVER Work in this mind blowing way and anarchic behaviour!!! :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no

JUST A NOD OF THE HEAD.. Bow then shuffle off, (clip board hugged to chest) when ANY SENIOR SCREW talks to you and never look em in the eye, (BAD FORM AGAIN)

I think you can go into the world of SENIOR SCREW...

TOM GOOD LUCK N SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PICKET LINE!!!

WHOLLOP!!!

you should watch this. :Very Happy

I just watched it to get some ideas for this phone call tomorrow, it seemed a little bit too good to be true, happy graduates working in harmony with their teams. I figured a forum (where people actually tell the truth) would give a much more realistic view of the job.

You my friend must come from the planet zog, and expect quite a bit of hate and hostility. You see it might supprise you to know poeple cant stand being told what to do by some twat who has never done the job. Still not to worry you'll soon get the hang of it when you've done a couple of hundred cut off bags. Just make sure you've got a nice pair of sturdy walking shoe's cos sure as hell your gonna need em :funneh

expect a lot of cynicism !, seen it all before , we got a lot of smart-alec ,ex teachers either too clever by half or as thick as two short planks . There's a lot of dubious religious groups & extreme political organizations that target universities , looking for the gullible and naive, suspceptible etc . You can add Royal Mail to that list !.

Being a postman would be much more fun for you than management, and better for your health. You would have friends and keep fit.
