I'm a regular Royal Mail service user and since I was made redundant, as part of the process of Kraft buying Cadbury & outsourcing all internal IT support to an Indian company, I have become a Registered Firearms Dealer specialising in sporting airguns, both classic and modern.
Having a mail service which customers can access to send in airguns & parts for work and a cost effective route back for small parts and repairs is a key part of my business model.
As the VCR act already tells me what is and isn't legally allowed by way of distance selling and prevents the sale of parts which could allow someone without an airgun to assemble one I, cannot see any advantage in RM refusing to carry seals, springs, screws, any other non-pressure bearing part or complete guns being returned to their owner.
The only way for this to be an advantage to the general public would be for all RM monopolies to be simultaneously removed to allow an alternate letter, small packet and parcel carrier to operate from Post Offices,
Regards,
Nick

Welcome.
Regarding "The only way for this to be an advantage to the general public would be for all RM monopolies to be simultaneously removed to allow an alternate letter, small packet and parcel carrier to operate from Post Offices" that would depend on who you would expect then to deliver letters and small packets at a reasonable cost to close on thirty million addresses on a daily basis.

Re: Hello
But the monopolies have all been removed.
Also when the mutualisation happens perhaps they will allow other companies to use the POL network. However, at the moment as both are part of the same company wouldn't it be against the free market economy this poster "may" support, to force 1 part of it to open up to other competitors.
Wouldn't that be like Tesco being forced to stock Sainsburys own brands at the same time.
