It's the fact they are conspicuous by their absence. There are members who have been here for years, who wouldn't recognise the Area or Div Rep if they bit them in the ass, who wouldn't know their name and probably are unaware that an organisation outside the office rep even exists at local level. These people are either totally uncaring or unaware as to what is happening at DO level.

have you thought about standing for rep yourself ? maybe you could make the difference. have got to admit in our office there are quite a lot of new people that don't know the unit rep let alone the area rep

Our unit rep is fine but without support from the MC based and MC background reps he's never going to make any headway - a couple of years ago he got stitched up on a vote.
