in this new era of claims could posties have grounds for compensation for knackered limbs ? the bill for royal mail would be sky high.

It was using the trolley that polished me off , it exposed the underlying health issues that I could manage. albeit with discomfort . using a bike .With age, as I have posted before, duties should be made easier to compensate for the wear and tear .

Everyone with a problem physically, associated with the delivery method changes, should notify the CWU with immediate effect. Start making a noise now and lets all be heard before this gets too far.

Re: HOW MANY PEOPLE IN YOUR OFFICE HAVE KNACKERED LIMBS
We've had quite a few in my office that have had knee replacement surgery and also a few with spinal surgery. Now P & L is in we have an average of 8 off each week due to some injury or other. I personally am attending physio at the moment for a hip/spine problem due to an injury to my knee sustained on delivery. Its not looking good for any of us.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

Theres a big problem with that. In our office they are trying to refer people to ATOS with a view to paying people off. No nonesense, they are actively trying to get rid of people even if its the slightest thing.Lincox wrote:Everyone with a problem physically, associated with the delivery method changes, should notify the CWU with immediate effect. I guess that would show the fear they have in the long-term that this could come back and bite them on the arse. Somewhere in the pay-off you receive you will probably have to sign some sort of waiver that says you will not be suing them at any point in the future.heapsy wrote:Theres a big problem with that. Thats an interesting theory Cobra. If there is anyone on this site that has taken Ill Health Benefits, perhaps they would let us know whether there was a waiver to sign.

Only reason I say it is my mum recently took a voluntary severance/early retirement from local government. They made her sign some kind of severance agreement, which included that she would not be taking any legal action against them in the future. This is because there have been some claims of constructive dismissal coming out since people took their severance as people felt overly pressured and railroaded into a decision.Lincox wrote:Thats an interesting theory Cobra. and I can't understand why we need to increase workload for absorbing as that would cause more injuries and make more postperson off work with injuries.
I am recovering from twisted ankle (not work related) and managers is trying to ask me to do half of walk overtime.

Re: HOW MANY PEOPLE IN YOUR OFFICE HAVE KNACKERED LIMBS
same as most posties really, bag over shoulder, walking the beat. getting bus out to the delivery, and back to the office. the trolleys come into their own when used on FLAT terrain. which is the delivery i have been given since the op. i can understand they could well be impractible over hilly duties and especially the old duty i was on they would not be fit for purpose. but as i say, for what i am doing now they are 100% the best.Lincox wrote:Davey, what delivery method(s) have you been using over the years. Has it been cycle, bag carrying, using own vehicle or what? I think it is a big mistake to take faith in a LWT when there has been insufficient trial years to substantiate a claim that it will reduce muscular and skeletal defects.
