Explain why?
because they always buckle and the breaks fail, they are hard to push up hills and look ridiculous.
  1. Unless you have the very old style of trolley the current version of LWT wil only buckle if it is broken, in which case it is replaced/fixed, or not erected and used correctly, user error.
  2. There are no brakes to fail, the foot on the unit acts to prevent the unit rolling away and the user must ensure that when left unattended the unit cannot roll away.
  3. The user instruction/SSOW states that you pull the LWT except when travelling down slopes, (where you apply light downward pressure to the handle and the unit rolls down the slope in front of you).
  4. If you think the LWTs look ridiculous why don't you think how ridiculous you'll look to your family when you can no longer interact with them due to a back problem caused entirely by your own doing!

No thanks. Bikes are OK in Norfolk or London, but are next to useless in the Pennines or
Cairngorms.

So it was alright three years ago to use bags?

No it wasn't alright, just common practice, (hence the Union fought change for weight off the shoulder).

It used to be common practice to spray asbestos as fire protection onto RSJ's, we learned from it and changed common practice.

To be fair Pat,we didn't have 4-5hr delivery spans 3 years ago...or at least shouldn't have had.

If you are a postie of thirty years previous to this, it's unlikely it was 'your own doing' if you do it now, was the point I tried to get across albeit a little pedantic. :cool

(and I am for LWT just understand they do have problems)

Roll on the advent of postal exoskeletons - Military versions are being trialled as we speak.

My issue with the light weight trollies is that you have to leave them unattended at the end of garden paths that you can't negotiate or steps etc. This was always a no no if a bag was left on a bike while you went up a drive/path/steps, so why is it ok to leave bags unattended on a LWT now? :hmmmm

Not according to the Delivery Equipment Security Procedure.

The delivery pouch may only be left on the front carrier when directly outside of a specific delivery point
Note: - Whenever left unattended there is a significant deterrent to criminal activity if the delivery officer is in line of sight

But we're not allowed to look elsewhere while walking!

And what if it's not in a line of sight when you get to the door?

It doesn't say that it must be in the line of site, it simply says that there is an increased deterrent when it is.
