Re: strikes
It's hard to believe that we are dragging up an almost 10 year old pay award as some kind of justification for the predicament of the union now.
Yes the pay award in 2003 was impressive but can we move on now?

However those offices who had above £5 per week in either PBS or ICS had to use this to find £5 of the £26.28. No other allowances were used. Your memory deceives you on this occasion.

Re: strikes
It's not a federal model,it's a franchise model....like Subway.dingo wrote:Fish I will respond to yours when I have got time. However let be clear this union has always been office based and federal.
A Federal model has a strong central government, which makes important decisions affecting the whole federation and ensures these decisions are carried out by the whole federation, only devolving the power to make local decisions to local members of the federation.
A Franchise model gives you the headed notepaper and the Subway sign, leaves you to get on with it and only calls when the fees are due.

Re: strikes
I hope there are no strikes plannned, i'm fed up with standing by the gate whilst half the office goes in. Two people were allowed to work their day off when it fell on a strike day last time........

Re: strikes
That was the Way Forward in 2000. The Pay and Major Change Agreement was 2003 which was the end of 2 deliveries and delivered the £26.28 and the 5 day week for delivery postmen and women.dvbuk55 wrote:Well I will chip in and say that much of the 26 quid was from allowances and more than the fiver dingo is suggesting - it was more a consolidation and not an outright pay increase. I also believe it was the erosion of the overtime rates but hey whatever fits the history according to dingo.

Re: strikes
im talking about the CWUnion, if working conditions don't change and wages don't increase to co-incide with inflation then i can see further strikes pretty soon my friend.dvbuk55 wrote:I'll have a pint of what you're drinking or are you talking about another unionStella102 wrote:i predict there will be a national strike within the next 6 months, probably before christmas.

Re: strikes
Well they aren't going to and you won't see any strikes. The BT2010 agreement as good as puts paid to any strike action and as for pay and conditions - you may have missed the plethora of joint statements of late, seats on the board and the, more than, threat of privatisation in 2013/14 which has been all but agreed by the union.Stella102 wrote:im talking about the CWUnion, if working conditions don't change and wages don't increase to co-incide with inflation then i can see further strikes pretty soon my friend.dvbuk55 wrote:I'll have a pint of what you're drinking or are you talking about another unionStella102 wrote:i predict there will be a national strike within the next 6 months, probably before christmas.

Re: strikes
Strikes are a thing of the past, all they achieve is lose the public backing and split the workforce. You cannot really expect people with a mortgage to lose money by striking, and then return to work and end up clearing the backlog for nothing. The best way to fight back would be an overtime ban and watch what happens!
