Is there any agreements on how d2d are done ?, i know you must do 20% every day but if you are on a rural and say u have 300 points thats 50 per day .What is the procedure for doing those 50 ,do u do a complete road so u can sign form to say complete or what ?

First off it is not 20% a day, this is the oldschool method, which gave the duty holder an easier Saturday without D2D to worry about. It is now one-sixth everyday, no more, no less. The amazing planners program bases our achievable workload each day on such things.

Most frames at my gaff have 7 columns, so it is one column a day working from left to right, with a box from the 7th rightmost column on the fisrt four days of the week. D2D gets delivered even if it is the only "live mail" for that delivery point. We draw artist impressions of the frame on the reverse of the control sheet and show which bits we have delivered on each day.

In my office it is different on most deliveries some with 5 colums you do 1 colum a day others you do horizontal from point A to point B and on our REPS you do monday-thurday one horizontal colum a day.ie 25% over 4 days , i have mentioned its unfair on those who cover his duty on one day but he and the DOM ignor my coments. like the way they have brouht in the 39 hour week we all do the same job but for 1 hour a week less.

the office voted on it and he talked them into accepting it thats with the area rep backing him up, just so they can sign off the monies we should have had when our main office went to sequencing mail and we should have had the payment then

Moving D2D into workload in a revision
• Door to Door will be planned on the basis of prepping and delivering 1/6th of the items each day of the week, Monday to Saturday.
• D2D should be the last items prepped to a frame after address mail unless there is available down time such as waiting for missorts or late arrivals.
• Whilst D2D workload will be planned on the basis of spreading it across six days a week delivery employees will have the ability to manage the delivery of the items themselves on the proviso that all items are delivered and the delivery specification is not compromised
• Whilst this may involve cold calling at some address points for which there are no other items it is the best approach overall as it is easy to understand, communicate and monitor
• D2D traffic volumes will now be entered into the Indoor Workload Tool (IWT) to calculate the workload associated with D2D.
• The standard procedure for collating and sorting D2D items varies as follows according to number of contracts:

1 or 2 Contracts
• Obtain D2D items for contract and place on bench
• Pick up handful and place one item in slot for each delivery point on that day's schedule
• Tidy away D2D
• Repeat for second contract
• Clear down D2D with ordinary mail from slots containing live mail

3 or more contracts
• Position one pile of D2D on bench for each contract
• Take item from top of each pile and place collated items in slot for each delivery point on that day's schedule
• Tidy away D2D
• Clear down D2D with ordinary mail from slots containing live mail

• A new updated call rate calculator has been issued which adjusts the call rate to take account of delivering 1/6th of D2D items each day.
• The frame should be clearly marked into 6ths (approx) so that both the regular OPG and any reserve duty can quickly identify the daily D2D requirement by road(s)
• Where delivery is performed in pairs (shared van delivery) the delivery loop or burst will constitute the most appropriate volume of delivery points to cover daily but the principle of 1/6th should be maintained.
• Dual prep roles should ensure that they prep D2D for both routes
• Clear down is as per normal process

Fish, can you clear up one point. In one section it states that all d2ds are cleared down and delivered, but then contradicts that by saying only d2ds with live mail are cleared down, assuming you leave d2ds with no live mail for another day.

shorter week was supposed to be for walk sequenced mail we are not getting this as we are to far from the main office.
so the hourly rate has gone up but we are still doing the same job for the same wage in les time

You have your contracted hours. Its up to you anything done over and above contracted hours.

It's just a poor choice of wording.
D2D is live mail so....
It wouldn't be a joint RM/CWU document if it wasn't open to interpretation/vague/bollocks.

What a load of faffing.

I prep 100% in on a monday and deliver whats left on a saturday, if any. Easy.

we're supposed to do 25% a day but tbh everyone does it their own way, I try and get as many in as I can at the start of the week, hate chucking in 25% on a wed and thurs when we are much busier. On three different rounds next week mind so will stick with the 25% thingy.
