It becomes a glorified drop box.
That's exactly how the first half of my P&L duty is done. All that money spent on vans - the irony is it's right beside a pouch box
It went live in my office today total mess three walks cut off some other finished at 5pm, 3pm but we still have the runners coming in early and working through their breaks, considering the traffic was light today can't wait to see Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays fiasco to come.
Our revision is coming up for its first anniversary and the planners are back to fix the mess. During the one-to-one session the planner asked me to mark up the pouch boxes on the duty because there's apparently Old P&L and New P&L - the latter already condoned on a few duties where the walker goes off on their own using the boxes and the driver loops from the van clearing the oversized, etc. I had to point out that wasn't the national agreement and that it was reinventing the packet driving duties with the addition of letter delivery and potentially failing to take weight off the shoulders for walkers (which is already the case as management won't enforce LWT use). The more senior planner said officially there's only P&L and if walk tested that's how it should be done, but for convenience duty holders can do their delivery any way they want (though "you didn't hear it from me").
So that raises the question again, just what is a successful revision?
Update on today - the smart arse's are finishing bang on time (Only just) but they are coming in a hour earlier defeating the object they thinks its great at the minute going past neighbouring walks blowing their horn shouting "Ave ya done yet" problem is its only Monday and Tuesday I can see trouble ahead in the next few days and especially when September comes in and the schools return, wonder will they blowing their horns then?

Absolute madness, those twats need a dam good slap! It is the exact opposite in my office. The only kudos to be had is how little you will deliver on any given day.

Only one post? And it extolls the virtues of park and loop? Moya, is that you?

Dont worry you'll have the last laugh.
i came in on time, had a meal relief and cut off most days whilst the early starter no meal relief runners finished earlier and waved and laughed.
Guess what , after 6 months they took 3 roads off my walk and put 3 on theres
Who's laughing now then
P&L coming to my office, I can now say the problem is with the planners, they do not have a clue. Its easy to slag people off, on my round P&L is good compared with the old method but not the way the planners want. I can now understand the mess some offices are in if the planners are given the final say. Taking the load of your body is the only way forward.

Our early starters, runners and none break takers still speculate on an early finish, this does happen occasionally but for the majority of times, those who get back to the office early are rewarded with more work. It's wonderful.
Would anyone mind if your colleague had his meal relief on delivery? 9.00 starters paired with full timers cause problems as well. At what opportunity does the later starter have to have his meal relief during loops? You can hardly expect someone to take their allocation as soon as they start.
What if the driver wants his meal relief at a different time to the walker?
Nobody worked the majority of this stuff out.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Pedantic bull like this is really nonsense and I can only assume is being dragged up to cause issue where none is needed tbh.
The pairing should have a little chat and come to a decision that suits both parties. A reasonable suggestion, if I may be as bold, would be half way round. Once you have finished 'one delivery' and about to start the '2nd delivery.'
