Who banned PPI labels, eBay or Royal Mail?

Show me where in the contract that says Postmasters must accept mail items for no remuneration.

This is what happens when you do not keep contracts up to date with negotiated amendments.

Hi subbie, I honestly don't know, I was asking a genuine question, I didn't realise that post offices could refuse mail of any sort,

of course we can. We are instructed to refuse certain sorts of post.

For instance - we should refuse underpaid items - or if they are accepted then they must be marked and put in a seperate sack marked for revenue protection. We also refuse 2nd class home shopping returns over 4.5kg, and Horizon (the PO computer system specifically tells us to do this). We also refuse any oversized items for their service - not that anyone else in RM seems to pay any attention to the 1st class/ special etc size limits given what comes into our mailwork office. We are responsible for anything that comes across the counter - so if we aren't being paid for it there isn't much incentive to spend time checking it/ sorting it/ segregating it etc.

We can refuse anything on health and safety grounds. For instance, if a ppi customer brings in 15 sacks of post and we cannot store it according to mails integrity guidelines, or without causing potential issues for us. For us to accept that volume we have to block our fire exit. Our contracts might be stupid, but they do allow us to follow basic legal requirements.

It speaks volumes that Royal Mail actively try and poach our customers (several of our ebayers have been directly contacted from their return address information) and they then expect us to keep our post offices open, heated, lit and staffed so their customers can drop off at their convinience. I can't wait to see what those post office locals will make of it!

this is why loads of post offices have closed we had a collection with 7 post offices on 5 closed and who cares
