All the talk nowadays is about how RM has decided on a course of action, and that the union's only choice is to embrace the change.
Why can't the union ever draw a line in he sand and say NO for a change ! Call their bluff.
It seems that everything that others in the past have fought for and achieved through strike action, has been given back, in exchange for the promise of £££ - ( much of which has NOT been seen by the average member )

So do many part timers actually get there contracted hours increased, i'm only on 25 hours but apart from my first week and when on annual leave, I've always done more, I would say I at least do 30 hours per week.Geezer wrote:3.3 The level of part timers’ contracted hours will be jointly reviewed locally on a six monthly basis. Where appropriate, increased contracted hours will be offered to reflect the hours actually worked and planned. 3.4 Agency workers are intended to cover short term or unforeseen resourcing needs expected to last for periods of no more than 12 weeks, which cannot be covered by offering additional earnings opportunities to existing employees whilst maintaining quality of service. In the rare circumstances that employment exceeds 12 weeks the comparable pay provisions of the agency workers’ regulations will apply.

Get the rep, activists fighting for it, and the PTimers themselves. I made a PTimer aware of this and advised him what he should do - he got his contract made up.

I'm not certain how this works TBT because the office hours would not sustain a potential increase. I know people work more hours than their stipulated contract but that is the whole point really, they are a stop gap for Royal Mail when there are hours required. Is that right, well no it isn't but I cannot see a sea change at any time. In my time here I have seen the office manpower go from 100% full time to about 52% FT and 48% PT that's nothing short of a denigration of contracts the majority of which has taken place in the last few years.
