If you do not want o/t, you do not want o/t, end of. No manager can force you to work after hours, after hours is YOUR time, not RMs.

If the DIM at your office insists on trying to get a pint into a quart pot , cut off. Once more of you do this, you'll find your DIM won't be so quick
to try and get every piece of crap in your office out on a saturday. :cool

No, you do not have to go for the O/T. O/T is if you chose to do it, it seems like you may be one of the few in your offfice who choses not to do it. Next time your DOM, asks you to do O/T when you chose not to, just ask him to put his request on a `quick note to you` and explain that you will take `action` against him. That should sort your problem out.

You can not be forced to finish your round if it takes you over your finishing time.
You do not have to 'finish the round and i'll pay you docket for it' if you don't want to.
If you want to claim the overtime for working over, see your Line manager or DOM before you go out.

Getting to your walk:

Depending on what's in your 318's depends on how you get out.
Most would have a van to take you out and bring you back.
Some offices i know have to get on a bus.
Some of you have to walk there.
Have a look at your 318's and enquire in this thread if needed.
PS:If there aint a van available, then just wait.
Unless your Manager has Business insurance on his car (Get proof) then he can't take you out in his car.

Unable to complete your round:

You are within your rights to stop delivering if you don't want to go over your finishing time.
Inform your line Manager or DOM before you tie up that you feel you will 'not be able to complete your round'.
You are not 'CUTTING OFF' 'you are unable to complete your round'.
Await instructions.
If you are told that 'in his/her opinion' that you can finish the round, then ask him/her what time should you ring in to inform them that you can't complete it,as you feel that could be the case.

Pouching off:
Give yourself time to pouch off.If you take your work to a pouch box or a Post Office, give yourself enough time to do that so that when you've finished,it is then your finishing time.
If you have to come back to your DO then obviously give yourself enough travelling time to get back and do your bits.
Again get instructions from your DOM or line Manager.

Its part of the USO but you personally don't have to fulfil it Royal Mail as a business has to.

They're talking bollox,if they want that on a heavy day they have to stream the work.
If they make you take it all out, tough on them.

Yeah Sorry pal let your self go there at the end of the day you owe Royal Mail your Duty time OT is not compulsary and it wont be in the future if we all stand togetheir.
If your DIM DUM DUD or whatever the hell he is is that worried about every DP on your duty receiveing mail he also has an obligation to see that it goes.
Long and short if you cannot complete your duty he should find somebody who wants the OT or simply DO IT HIMSELF which is a problem because although on the whole there are managers out there that want to progress and make the buisness work.On the whole they are lazy individuals that could not handle the work load a few years ago let alone now.

CUTOFF is word they just dont like to hear they will be hearing alot more of it with staff having to pick up kids from school ETC with the later starts.

I brought this up a while ago and was told that as we are on "job and finish" that we have to finish the round and if it takes you beyond your time , then you claim overtime.
Was not too sure how to answer that one, "job and finish" seems to be a double edged sword.

Asking out of curiosity.

Is there an expected time that you guys should take to get round your walks?

for example, if your walk has 1000 doors is there an estimated time where they expect you to get round in?

Yes all walks should be 3 1/2 hours long based on an 83% call rate so if you have a long walk between delivery points you get less deliveries to do. However the new Gio-route/Pegasus does not take into account stairs, multi-occupancy, rear door access or local geography. This is why the CWU have asked for input on it. It also fails as most days I have a 90% call rate.

I think if they set it up as a 100% call rate everyday and required people to go back into the office on completion of their round for sorting and prepping the next days work, apart from the work shy lazy ones you would not get many complaints and everyone would work to their time as RM want, but hey thats a pie-in-the-sky dream.

That reference to the Geo-route is interesting.
About three years ago in one of the revues i was asked to sort out the townies routes .
Now the rounds have not been timed and so i had to work with the DOM insisting that they being stretched out and the obvious fact that there were huge differences between twenty year olds speed of delivery and the fifty plus year olds speed.
Also because the rounds had not been timed some were a lot smaller than others and on the re-pick the easy rounds went to those in the know and the newcomers were faced with the huge unpopular rounds.
I fought the DOM insisting that the rounds were all ready too big and really needed timing , he said that the union would not agree to that so i was completely wasting my time .
In comes Geo-route and at last i should be vindicated , but after three rounds were put through the system it came to a grinding halt and i was told that the system was discredited.
So is it or is it not discredited ?.
