Prestonpans residents face postal changes

Changes to Royal Mail Services in the Prestonpans area could see residents waiting until after lunch for letters and packages to be delivered.

Residents are being warned delivery times could vary, either becoming earlier or later than before, as the service aims to make deliveries more efficient.

The changes came into affect on Monday, and are being introduced on phased basis.

The Royal Mail says the changes were being made to adapt services to fewer letters being sent and more larger packages being delivered.

Despite changes the Royal Mail has said many customers will continue to receive their post by lunchtime.

Georg Klein, Royal Mail collection and delivery sector manager said: "We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in Prestonpans.

"The changes to delivery routes will mean that a member of our local and experienced team will still be delivering to our customers in the EH32 Postcode Area."

"The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail in Prestonpans over many years."
