Re: Undelivered D2D Items
I think what people have to understand is that if you decide to give advice to members on a forum it should never be anything that might place them in a dangerous position.
Hundreds of people read these threads and not everyone has a decent rep or branch,a permanent contract or an office that will stand behind them.
I've never been or had any members placed in the position of having to deliver delayed D2D and if it did happen you would probably hear the fallout for miles around but i still would not advise members i do not know and cannot represent personally to refuse to deliver mail under any circumstances inside their contracted hours because i know doing so places them in a position of weakness whether they are justified or not.

manager: unfortunately there are some d2d from last week whe you were off that need delivering
me: fine go find who was on it last week and tell them
manager: I don't know who was on it last week so you will have to take them
me: not happening
manager: If I have to I will give you a direct order
me: Fine then I will take them, but I will demand signing on sheets for last week and when I find out who was on this walk I will demand they are taken down the conduct code for not delivering d2d
manager : fine
me: after that I will demand you are also taken down the conduct code line for failing to ensure the correct frame checks were carried out to ensure the delivery officer was taking their quota of d2d
manager: erm gimme 5 mins
5 mins later
manager: give them to me and I will get rid of them, you just take this weeks
end of the day it is their job to ensure the d2d are taken in time not yours ( if you are on a/l) call their bluff they are taking the piss

Re: Undelivered D2D Items
Some of you guys need a reality check.
As with letters, flats, packets, tracked, recordeds, specials and international items, D2Ds form part of our workload. We do not get to pick and choose which items we will or won’t deliver.
By all means inform your manager that the D2Ds have not been done for the preceding week. He then has to deal with that situation. If he then tells you to deliver them, then that is what you do.
In turn, if this will take you over your hours for the day, then advise your manager of your need to cut-off.
All this bollocks about “I ain’t taking ‘em” might sound good in the playground but will cut no ice when you find yourself dismissed for failing to obey a reasonable instruction.

There is nothing more disheartening than coming back after your day off, holiday or whatever to find out you've been well and truly f****d up the arse by a colleague.
Sorry for the language, but we really do work with some s**t bags.
Not even going to bother asking about a rep.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Undelivered D2D Items
If you look closely at the d2ds in that Twitter pic none of them has been in a bundle or through a letterbox
in fact if you look at the pizza hut ones they're all marked/torn in exactly the same place, bit of photo shopping me thinks

Re: Undelivered D2D Items
I know old thread, but our office has routinely failed D2Ds every week and ignore opt outs. Now it's regularly 2 days mail and packets, also tracked fails starting to appear, the situation is only getting worse.
I had 4 fliers through my letterbox last week. None were from RM. One was a leaflet asking for leaflet distributors. One leaflet was a company that we used to deliver for, and i often saw it us failing it too.
RM losing contracts through poor management again. While i know some staff are to blame, someone chose to employ them and pass their probation period.

Nowadays "excess" d2ds get launched onto a york, not even removed from the box or strappex..

Re: Undelivered D2D Items
D2D's were allegedly changed into the system we have now because of mass failures in the business. Some lost a lot of money.
I would personally say it was because of a mix of bad management and ignorant colleagues.
D2D's may one day be gone forever if we keep mass failing the business we get. All will lose a lot of money.
