I take out specials in a tray, anything p739'd goes into this tray as well.chrisj wrote:I like the different doors approach, I might try that tomorrow as I might be leading but then it probably depends on who loads the van; there might not be enough time to explain who does what when working with someone new rounds/walks.
Bags for missorts and returns also a good idea - perhaps a box might be better...

Yes they showed us it 6 months after we started the park and loop debacle , we had to climb over the backlog to get into the canteen to see the DVDStormproof wrote:They did a dvd? whats that thing with wheels on the top of your bags???Stormproof wrote:One walk in loop order by the back doors and the other walk in order in the side door. Parcels in the middle. Bags get stacked as we go though the loops so when we get back to the office everything is ready to be transferred to a york and wheeled back into the office.

Re: Park and Loop - Methods and techniques!
we alter the loops as per frame, to a more efficient way of doing it (some crossover from one walk to the other). we also decide on a bag-per-bag basis on who is going to be back first and do the parcels, for which we decide the order of delivery.
works really well, although management would probably be annoyed

Re: Park and Loop - Methods and techniques!
How does one secure the LWTs - they rattle and bounce around the van; it can be disconcerting...
LWTs are not that bad to use. In fact, I have now started to use them even on normal rounds (not all rounds are paired yet). They are easy enough to pull or push and they definitely help with weight off the shoulder esp when one is knackered and bag is approaching 12-16kg with bulky and misshaped packets.
They don't slow you down too much. But when the bags are very light (6-9kg), and perhaps terrain hard or safety an issue (flats and dodgy areas) then bags might be the fastest and safest.

Re: Park and Loop - Methods and techniques!
My van doesent have a side door and both back door catches are broke so neither will stay open. Back door lock is suspect and only opens if and when it feels like it. The key fob is suspect and will randomly lock the van without warning, its the ONLY key for the van. Also has a slow puncture, smokes excessivley and has a knackered battery. Oh and the drivers seat is held together with tape. And yes management know about it. I was pushing it around the yard the other day with the manager trying to bump start itStormproof wrote:One walk in loop order by the back doors and the other walk in order in the side door. Re: Park and Loop - Methods and techniques!
As has been said, it's basics really, we clearly number all the bags with round number and loop number and then put them in the van in order, same as others have said one round at side door one at back door.
Specials - we take a couple of mech trays out with us for Specials, these then come in handy for any 739'd items and mis-sorts at the end.

Re: Park and Loop - Methods and techniques!
What would be handy is some sort of rack or clips to attach LWT's to roof of van (inside) instead of chucking them ontop of mail and packets.
