I know ! and i don't. I love my time off, it was an attempt at post modernism irony with an epistemological slant, that went awry somewhat

People are entitled to do what they want to put food on the table but if that means undercutting others or weakening job security or risking your job by ignoring security regulations and health&safety then you have to grow up and accept the repercussions of that and not cry about it or blame someone else when it all goes pear-shaped.
If managers know you will do anything for a bit of OT...they will make you do anything for a bit of OT.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I normally do as much overtime as I am asked to do, including extending. I need the money.

When your next prospective employer asks why you were sacked from Royal Mail just show them the above post.

Fair enough guys. If the best advice is that I'll have to put up with it then so be it.

Was merely asking if I could prevent the situation and still keep my overtime.

Postal Postie II wrote:Oh excellent. So most people advice on here is complain about it to the managers and get no overtime? Living off just 20 hours a week pay.

Very helpful.
Do you just drive to the other DO and then deliver post or do you actually deliver from your private vehicle?

Do you have business insurance? Has RM given you permission to do this?
I've seen yr answer re post in yr car but what insurance do you have?

Doesnt need any extra insurance if he is covered by RMs insurance bond, in fact the whole you need business insuarnce when using your car is a myth as its not the correct type of business insurance you would be getting, you would actually need a policy from your insurance company which allows the carrying of mail, not just "ordinary" business insurance and that type of policy costs a fortune

Royal Mail's bond is only third party it doesn't cover any damage to your own vehicle and you do have to inform your own insurance company what you are using your car for and they provide the correct insurance for your needs
