Re: weight off shoulder
With my strains due to the trollie , ATOS told me its ok to still use the trollie but only up to 11kg in each bag. But how when there is so much mail , i'm not looping round twice refilling bags etc. When the lm says mail is down according to his figures, it is only down in certain places , this is why you must weigh bags and record the figures ready to throw them back at him/her/it!
Why are lino's paid full-time ??

Re: weight off shoulder
Just entering our 3rd week of p&l. We have been told you can carry up to 8kg so if 1 loop is under that then use bag rather than trolly. Same with hct loops. The walk i have been covering has 2 issues with inclines which means the hct is out of sight for 13 mins for the first and the other is unattended for 20 mins although its within sight from bottom of the hill. Told dom and he said he will "log it down".

Fish you certainly know your stuff, I have personally used your information for the greater good in our DO. If anything your posts give us confidence to actually question our leaders.
(and yes, you can feel a but coming on)
But, taking longer does not protect jobs when jobs have been lost in the first place. Throwing three walks into one reduces the employment needs for future jobs whilst overloading the work on the remaining few.
We have been given equipment to deliver more mail and that's the main concern from above, more mail delivered by less people. I doubt anyone with their head in the trough gives a f**k about the strain involved.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: weight off shoulder
We have had six walks taken out due to park and loop, and large parcels added, but there are not many completing and loads of mail is being bought back. Something has got to give, i reckon they will have to reinstate the walks they have taken out. And while RM are thinking of new ideas to wear us down, then why cant the good idea people come up with a new and catchy name, something like CONSIGNIA,Pat Ostman wrote:Fish you certainly know your stuff, I have personally used your information for the greater good in our DO. Re: weight off shoulder
Of the 2 duties I do, 1 is designed for LWT the other is designed for bags, I try and not use the trolley I only use it later on in the week or a heavy day with the mail and packets as it does slow you down. But if the planner says use it, use it I do it's the only way to tell them to stick it, we've had issues since day one with our revision and are now 2 months in and I've never been so tired after every day of work.

Re: weight off shoulder
when i wrote this topic i was well aware that one of the major issues was doing the job properly ie with trolleys was a potential for stress because of being bulliedmailmonkey wrote:when revision came in I remember being told that trollies were MANDATORY.
As soon as the mail started backing up, manager was telling people to "use their discretion".
Now, the few people who still use trollies as a matter of principle are being bullied, harassed, followed, timed, threatened with conduct code when others (not using trollies) manage to complete the walk.
CWU should be ashamed of this agreement, but looks like they still not managed to muster up an apology to their members, or even a slight aceptance that the deal they cut was a pile of w#nk, and has exposed more members to bullying and harassment than ever before.
harassed and carpeted by people in charge i cant wait for the first tribunal because somebody was sacked for doing the job properly will cwu come to support the foot
soldier i would not give large odds.

I suspect Fishtank was thinking as much about protecting full-time positions here and now as well as for the future

Our office is proof that it does.Pat Ostman wrote:But, taking longer does not protect jobs when jobs have been lost in the first place.
We have roughly the same core hours that we started with despite the initial revision removing 5%.
Why?...because park&loop is inherently less efficient if done properly than the previous system so the hours that were removed from the conveyancing duties had to be reinvested into delivery to deal with the excess left behind by members using the correct delivery equipment.
Those hours are now permanent.
Not everybody in the office got this though, some went out with bags and gave the impression to management that all was well with their duties...those hours are now lost...mainly through stupidity and some misplaced "hero" syndrome.
Those members are now desperately trying to get off those duties so that some other poor bugger can clean up the mess.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: weight off shoulder
what’s efficient, my understanding is in theory park&loop is needed because there is a view that packets and parcels are increasing with letters decreasing, therefore a different method of delivery is needed. Is there a view then we should not change the method of delivery. From my experience is at peak time on the duty I do, the volume of packets exceeds the volume of pouch boxes. The time to deliver a packet is very variable, and the method varies, and managers are looking for the quickest method till it goes wrong. In the age of litigation, and more lawyers will more ex-posties sue for health problems. I go for no weight on shoulders any day and looking forward to P&L, the fire looks better than the frying pan.Why?...because park&loop is inherently less efficient if done properly

Re: weight off shoulder
In our office, some staff are still running round with a heavy bag on their backs. They finish early but are allowed to go home. This infuriates the staff who do the job properly such as I. Why should the runners be allowed to go home when they finish early? Surely the management should give them more work to do until it is their official time to go home. After all, the walks are supposed to be equal. The job has gone downhill since one delivery came in. It is also about time we were paid more for the D2D crap that we have to deliver.

Since P/L done eveything by the book not coming in early ,using trolleys , having meal relief and cutting off most days.
Yes I got all the s**t properganda from the managers but now who is having the last laugh.
I have 90 calls less on my oundand the runners who come in early have had loads put on theirs
Nice leasurely round now with no stress.
what did the early starting runners achieve, more mail and they brought it all on thereselves

Re: weight off shoulder
Fair dos' that the runners have extra added on Eastie, but they will be a problem later on if those runners jump walks and some pour soul has too take over their duties which has been added prevously.Very much doubt that some of the walk will be taken out again
