If you hand management the perfect weapon to beat you about the head don't be surprised when they beat you about the head with it.
I can't feel sorry for you because there will be other part-timers with more principles trying to get by on 20hrs who aren't getting any overtime because someone is willing to save RM a few bob on conveyance by using their car.
You are effectively undercutting your colleagues and that doesn't sit right with me.
Spoken like a postie on FT pay.

Hey put me on a FT contract then watch me stick rigidly to rules etc.

Maybe if you didn't run a car you wouldn't need to work overtime. :Very Happy

I am a part timer so called. I do 30 - 40 hours a week normally but recently have been having my o/t hours reduced because I won't a. come in early to throw d2d's pre-sorted in before actual start time b. not claim all overtime owed to me and c. use my own vehicle. I am actually being undercut by fellow part time colleagues. I have raised this through official channels and am still awaiting a result.

What do the good and great on here suggest I do to boost my income a little (without resorting to the second job scenario), in recent weeks I have struggled to make 30 hours which is more of a struggle at home while some of my esteemed 'cheaper' colleagues in the p/t pool are cracking on with work that I feel I should be offered.

You took the PT job, don't complain about it now. Although i understand your need to earn as much as possible, your actions undermine the people who do the job as it should be done. Royal Mail love suckers like you.

This is illegal, apart from insurance, you would be in breach of construction and use regulation of motor vehicles, its not designed to carry commercial work loads in an unsecured manner.

If you crash, not only you will be liable for legal cost and damages, all that mail will hit you like a ton of bricks with all the kinetic forces of the crash transferred to it.

Oh excellent. So most people advice on here is complain about it to the managers and get no overtime? Living off just 20 hours a week pay.

Very helpful.

Do you just drive to the other DO and then deliver post or do you actually deliver from your private vehicle?

Do you have business insurance? Has RM given you permission to do this?

Postal Postie, there you have it!

My advice is to put up with the situation if you really need the money. However, you can continue to plea for a van or try and convince the other office that using your car is not ideal.

Yes, you are doing the other office a favour but then they are doing you an even bigger favour by boosting your income by up to 100%.

OT is impt to some people and you should be careful not to bite the hand that feeds. They might find someone else (from the same office or another office and you will be back to the basic £160-175 per week.

Consider this as spending money to make money. BTW, I don't think the issue of using your car is that relevant as you are not even a delivery postie and this is doing OT; just like the manager will do if needs must (they use their cars as well).

Nobody to my knowledge has challenged RM,

for over not paying out extra leave when you average out over 12 weeks more than your contracted hours.
