Re: New Mail centre Home Counties North
It's nice to hear that you are all getting on just fine in the new HCN building.
The stories I am hearing make me chuckle and glad I don't work there but, you have my sympathy. The brown noses, the managers who cannot manage and want have buy downs to postman. Then you have a manager suspended for health & safety reasons then reinstated, then suspended again because they cannot manage due to failures in clearing despatches.
Then you have the big wigs on a tour of the office a while ago, now where did all those York's of RLB go that was a fixture on the outward letter frames?? Ah, there they are - in the despatch area with LDO labels. And, some of these letters were dated October/November 2011.
Then there is the SD items that do not get zapped out and turn up in LDO's with no DUN note - more work for them with no extra payments!!
Drivers fighting over lorries - I can't take a hire lorry, I cannot drive them there too big!! It won't fit in the yard. That's if you can find your vehicle in the first place. Double evern triple parking and your 600 is behind them. Go back and get the keys for them -sorry someones got them alread. FFS! Then cue up for half an hour just to fuel up.
Then the fuel pumps break - that's right all cue up down the garage with your fuel cards. Sorry, your card is not accepted. RM vehicles blocking the forecourt as they won't let you go until payment is made.
Morning despatch times are not aligned to the LDO's correctly which after the staff have left for their deliveries, trays of mail turn up which should be classed as a failure! These are left until the following days delivery. So much for a first class service.
There is also a World Class Mail modification on one of the ILSM's. It consists of a sloping plastic channel with a tray at the end. This spans over the top of the ILSM, it guides the rain drops from the machine into the tray to collect the water as the roof leaks!!!
Office is too small for the operation but management say it is "compact".
Anyone else got any grumbles - feel free to air them???

And soon to be MK when LE moves down to South Midlands MC. I've got a mate working over there and he reckons that some of Greenfords work may move over there when they take more London work. He reckons theres a 5year plan but then again I've never known RM planners to be that organised. I work at JMC and we are about to take on SW all I'll say on it is it will be interesting on the 30th July 2012

So THAT was why I was having an argument with our Shift Manager last with when 2 registered bag for MK turned up at our MC. He said they go to HCN, and I said they go to South Mids MC.
Mind you - he's still convinced you can do a 160 mile round trip to Norwich and back in under 2 hours in a small "Bipper" van!!!!!
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Yes the heat in the building is a bloody joke. But go into the managers offices or the callers office and it's nice and cool !hagrid wrote:It's nice to hear that you are all getting on just fine in the new HCN building.

What is the maximum/minimum temperature in the workplace?
The law does not state a minimum temperature, but the temperature in workrooms should normally be at least:
16°C, or
13°C if much of the work is physical.
For full details read on...
There is always a choice in this case you have 3
1. Do nothing and accept you can't change it.
2. Keep complaining hoping something gets done.
3. Get serious and ask or force the Union to act.
All have implications but its you and your colleagues choice to decide what to do.
