Its got worse for many of us since our cycles were replaced by 2 to a van....

We physically have to now walk every step of the walk...everyday...

Sickness has doubled with feet and knee issues for many, mostly over 45 after the 1st 3 months has been well documented.

Walking an extra 2 miles a day.... is obvious that posties are not robots .... aches and pains for excessive walking can differ from day to day... slow down have rest for a couple of mins in the van helps on busy days or when ever needed...your own body will tell you..... a week off sick seems to help no end as well....for some.

I found that by reducing my weight and exercising more (running 40k per week in my spare time) has really helped my feet..............of course it maybe just the better footwear that I use for my running. :hmmmm

Ive been off since April with PF, had a 10 minute phone talk with Atos reccomended 2 sessions of phsyio, for what that was worth, Im under the hospital at the moment actually going today to get my feet cast up for special shoes/inserts, if that dosnt work theyve mentioned cortizone injections so I,ll just have to wait to see what pans out, bur believe me it is very painful standing walking is just out of the question still and despite the somewhat idle threats about ill health retirement Ill go back when I,m ready

It has to said that being a posties has the following fact....

Posties have the only occupation that require you to WALK 4 to 8 miles a day IN ALL WEATHERS...

So it is quite reasonable to expect that legs and feet may suffer at some point in a posties life....

26 miles a week is MOST common and that is walking a MARATHON distance every week.

.5 years x 26 ...is .6 thousand miles..... walked

10 years x 26 ...is 12 thousand miles..... walked

15 years x 26 ...is 18 thousand miles..... walked

20 years x 26 ...is 24 thousand miles..... walked

25 years x 26 ...is 31 thousand miles..... walked

Its only 3 thousand miles to walk across the USA.

HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU WALKED...?

I think you will find a lot of us walk more than 8 miles a day. There are quite a few of us on here that use trackers on our phones. One of my P& L duties is about 10 miles and thats not including the time spent on you feet in the office.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

But everything is covered by rm, shoes that are fit for purpose and h&s reasons etc. so you can't claim etc. EXCEPT the cat trainers which after a few weeks are still ok on the treads but tend to stretch out sideways and knacker your feet. My 5th pair have been on order now for 4 weeks and still out of stock so what do I do - stay off work? RM SORT IT. :arrrghhh
