We have had this in my office for a few weeks now, and the answer is this:-
Managers now have to sign off surplus D2D's in order to return them to the depo - this is to ensure D2D's are delivered otherwise the Managers job is on the line.
Believe me, Managers have been suspended for non-delivery of D2D items. Willful Delay
But lets face it, when lapsing, who wants to take D2D's anyway??????

Gets interesting when you have a phased in revision and D2Ds come in according to the old walks and not the new ones where the walk number changes to completely diffrent roads, despite management knowing full well when each phase kicks in, so some rounds get super-excess and other rounds end up with little or even none to deliver.
hehe we had a wtl session and were told that the count for d2d is very accurate..thats a lie for a start...BUT if we have any surplus on our walks we were to deliver them anywere on the walk LOL so if u had 50 over of 1 item,,,50 random houses were to get them.,,,were not aloud to pass back any surplus

I know that but they do want zero returns and I can see conduct code for even one going back.............which will lead to people dumping them on other peoples frames.

"could all managers ensure that they systems/procedures in place to ensure compliance of 20% a day" .
Now i think the system is being left to the discretion of the managers .but as ours is not the sharpest I'm
expecting he will just walk round with clipboard once a day estimating whats in.
Why are they scared,are they muppets,if the walks are getting too many and there's a lot left over,send them back and get onto the walk bundling people.
Delivering the excess willy nilly is just bollox,and it looks bad on us.

Managers are clamping down on none deliver of d2d's in our office. They are going to be marked with invisible ink and they are also putting "hand back to manager" cards in d2d bundles and boxes.

This isn't a case of the walk bundling people sending too much though.
We all know that.
Some offices,members,managers are taking the piss and as usual everybody gets the treatment.

Is this where the problem is? It's not 20% a day (unless this is a daft Local Agreement). It's a 6th a day!!!!
If people would only stick to what is required (and not worry about the ramifications) of ; say cutting off.. then maybe things would be a bit better.
Of course I could be wrong and decide to run round like a headless fu**ing Chicken ; so that I can not only Absorb, but also La[se.

in our office we tend to do 20% to avoid delivering d2d Saturday
so that I can not only Absorb, but also Lapse. same thing surely?
Saturday is just another working day, that just happens to be next to the one day a week we have off. It should get 1/6 D2D delivered, just like every other day... Otherwise you should be finishing earlier in theory, which means managers will/should be giving you extra work to do before home time, it will happen even if not active now.

For a postie they have the same effect. But to managers and office twonks there is a difference.
A Lapse is a planned collapse of a duty that is shared around the office.
An Absorption - is an unplanned collapse of a duty caused by an absence.
