I take it you still serve any customers who are already in your office,or do you lock them in until the next day!mclovin wrote:12 Midday the callers entrance is locked and bolted, queue or no.

To be honest...this is one rule that sucks...we can shut the doors like you said at say 2.00pm on Saturday...but usually there are already around 10 to 15 customers in the office which according to what i have been told by managers and other more senior staff members than me we must serve...so by the time you have served these people, locked everything up,and put the alarm on...it's usually around 2.30pm to 2.40pm by the time you get off home..
I think we should be allowed to close doors 10 or 15 minutes before closing time..this would give us enough time(hopefully) to serve customers already in the building..and get off home to our families..

Yes it would seem a solution except for the people turning up at 1.45 to find the door already locked with 15 minutes to go before the official closing time on the 739postypie wrote:I take it you still serve any customers who are already in your office,or do you lock them in until the next day!mclovin wrote:12 Midday the callers entrance is locked and bolted, queue or no.

Fair point, but i resent going over my time each Saturday (even more at Xmas) and the gaffer not paying OT as according to him.. ''it's been like that for years and other staff have never claimed''...none of these other staff members have kids..i have several..so would like to get home to enjoy what is left of Saturday afternoon with my kids..assuming i don't nod off!dvbuk55 wrote:Yes it would seem a solution except for the people turning up at 1.45 to find the door already locked with 15 minutes to go before the official closing time on the 739postypie wrote:I take it you still serve any customers who are already in your office,or do you lock them in until the next day!mclovin wrote:12 Midday the callers entrance is locked and bolted, queue or no.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You seem to be a decent person, i think your manager is taking advantage of you, I would insist on him paying overtime if you are over your time otherwise come 2pm i would stick my coat on and go homepostypie wrote:Fair point, but i resent going over my time each Saturday (even more at Xmas) and the gaffer not paying OT as according to him.. Re: Callers Office Queues
I dont work in the callers office, just telling you what happens.
PHG works til 1pm on a saturday, dont know what he does after 10 like apart from harass his colleagues on the phone for confirmations.

Yes my thoughts too..but more senior staff who i work with say they have never been payed anything extra(if you believe that)..so i just go along with it....i would like to know what would happen if i did work exactly to my time on a Saturday(2.00pm) on the dot...and go home..what course of action could RM take if any as i have worked my agreed hours...can hardly sack me can they...might do that soon actually...stop at 2.00pm..even if there is still some customers left to serve...and go home...you imagine if it went to a tribunal..erm..RM -sacked me cos i worked my stipulated/contracted hours...
