[quote="bogstandard"]are you p/t trying to sign for f/t?[
I am p/t and would like to be able to sign for a duty that is part time but a f/t postman is on it even though he should not be just because he does not want to do a walk. But he refuse to move to a f/t duty even though because of this he can not get a rotating day off .which is bad enough but he stops 3 p/t from getting duties
Heard someone today said it is because he does some thing for the boss dom:shock:
Hope that's not true

Ninja, is it right that on a re-sign there are full time and part time jobs? From my understanding all duties are the same outside the office, the difference between the full time and part time hours being made up of IPS prior to going out. The duty I had before the re-sign did not change in content at all but because of a re-sign and my seniority I was not able to go back to that duty - is that right?

The process states:

2. Individuals whose duties are unchanged, may opt to retain them, but will also have the option of applying for
any of the jobs involved in the re-sign. (See paragraph 2.3).

So based on what you are saying this would suggest that your duty wasn't changed by the revision and therefore you should have been asked if you wished to include this duty in the re-sign. Perhaps you will need to ask the DOM or Rep to explain what changes had been made to your duty that meets the criteria for it to be automatically included in the re-pick.
In my own unit I had to two duties that hadn't been changed by a revision and so had to ask if they wished to opt in to the re-pick,both very senior people who decided not to opt in to the office re-pick.

Thanks for the prompt response Ninja.

The duty did not change at all in content; the only difference was that I was doing it as a part timer and, when the revision was done for incorporating P&L, the duty was changed to a full time duty and therefore I could not continue with that walk! I ended up signing for a floaters duty covering 2 part time walks. Does changing a duty from part time to full time with no change of content meet the criteria?

I suspect it might meet the criteria under change in attendance start or finish time.

CHANGE CRITERIA

The following criteria should be applied to determine which duties have been significantly changed and are proper to be included in the re-sign:

.the duty/work content has changed by at least 25% e.g. from Mech. to manual or vice versa
.the duty has changed from indoor work to outdoor work or vice versa (staff employed on loading bay/platform duties will be classed as outdoor)
.the shift or skill allowance applicable to a duty has changed, either up or down
.there has been a change in the duty holder's opportunity to sign for Scheduled Attendance, e.g. change in
driving content to over four hours
.the attendance start or finish time has changed by 30 minutes or more. So that the duty holder's personal or domestic circumstances prevent them from attending at the new time or finishing at the new time-
.new duties should also be added to those identified as significantly changed, when considering whether there has been a third of the total duties affected.

Ninja: you are obviously quoting from official document

The process states:

2. Individuals whose duties are unchanged, may opt to retain them, but will also have the option of applying for
any of the jobs involved in the re-sign. (See paragraph 2.3).

Which document does this come from and can I get hold of a copy?

How would that work when a duty moves from part-time to full-time?
Is/was the duty a stand alone or is it now part of a park&loop pair?
Has the properly assigned delivery methods changed on this particular duty?
All of these things could be considered a change in the duty/work content.

Duty was a part time stand alone but is now a full time paired with another full time duty (which was also part time before the revision).

Both duties went from a bike round to a paired P&L

Definitely should be included in the resign.
Indoor work has changed due to it moving from part-time to full-time.
Outdoor work has changed due to the fact it's part of a P&L pair so will be delivering half of the other duty.
Also the change of delivery methods is classed as major change.

It is an interesting side note that most reps including me have always argued that repicks should only be based on the outdoor element but on a park&loop duty what is the outdoor element?
It's actually half of your "duty" and half of your partners "duty".
That really means that you're picking a duty based on what actually represents the indoor element i.e the part that gets prepped, not the outdoor element.

Bloody hell life has got so complicated - when a repick was a repick everything went in and everyone picked in order of seniority it was soooooooo simple and by far the most fair of all.

your right it should just be everyone picks on seniority and that's it.the problem now is if things don't change they don't have to put it in what the f### if most of the office changes just put everything in and it stops all the hassle.the other big problem now is the ring fencing of duties to. something that was sooo simple is now f###' so complicated :arrrghhh

Are there such things as part time and full time `walks`?, all walks are supposed to be equal in length in our office the only difference is full timers do ips and part timers do not, but, only recently I have been told that I can`t sign for a walk that I have been taking for 15 months, because I am full time and it suddenly has been classed as a `part time` walk?, I`m mad and confused.
