Greetings.
My question is to do with the consultation period before closure is announced.
I am not clued up with all the agreements yet not even half way clued up but there is a little confusion at our place.
When an RDC/VOC has been ear marked for closure are the procedures:
1. A consultation period between union and management that lasts 90 days or is it 60 days?
2. Once the consultation period has finished we move into another 90 day period where preference exercises are done and staff are found jobs at other sites.
So is the procedure 60 days then 90 days or is it 90 days then 90 days?
Or have I got it all completely wrong?
Does anyone know in what agreement the 90 or 60 day consultation period is printed so I can then read all about it?
Thanks a lot.

Re: Network 12 question
Right I've got a clue.
Two documents (or maybe one) and putting them together and I thank Fishtank for posting them.
The big question is where exactly are we at in this procedure, meetings have been called off in the past and there have been disagreements between CWU and management and apparently there was a meeting at CWU HQ today regarding this subject.
We await in hope for some information to flow down from above as this flow of information downward is enshrined in the "spirit of the Business and transformation agreement 2010".

Branches and representatives will recall that the department informed them via LTB 156/12 that discussions were taking place with the business in regard to a National consultation process document for RDC and VOC Rationalisation.
I can now inform you that an agreement has been reached with the business in regard to how the consultation process will be applied and that the agreement was endorsed by the Postal Executive at its recent meeting.
So turn to page 36 BT2010 and you have a flow chart of timelines for mail centre rationalisation, each timeline is definitely three months.fishtank wrote:ROYAL MAIL AND CWU JOINT STATEMENT REGARDING RDC & VOC RATIONALISATION.
Consultation timelines will be in line with the Mail Centre rationalisation approach.
Once the consultation on changes have satisfactorily concluded and the decision made both CWU and Royal Mail will work together to implement the changes at pace.

I didn't know they had planned to have it in/completed before the Olympics.
What was the original idea/timeline?
Does anyone know?
