no, it's not.

no, you don't.
, no nead for any confrontation with manager by any postie, thats why we pay our dues so reps will deal with this sort of issue
and that's why everything sucks, 'not my problem, so and so will deal with it'

sorry dont get where you coming from here, i personally thought that if rm were going out with argeements they had negotiated with the union then you should inform you union rep to get him to approach management and get it resolved, and if he is not doing his job then to go over his head? am i wrong with that assumption?

My postie has just been round,i am hols this week,we have no P/L revision yet but they are making them take the books out again in pouches, this is our 3rd batch in 2 weeks told him to see the rep but a lot of them just don't want to make waves (understandable i suppose)
It really gets my goat that RM will not abide by agreements that don't suit them,if they can't handle the contract for BB they should get more staff or offer overtime!

First of all the RM Policy on BB items is not an agreement however i completely agree with you that the responsibility in a unit for ensuring that management stick to both agreements and established policy does lie with the rep.
Of course it is then up to the membership in that unit to give full support to that rep.
It is obviously an IR issue and the person supposedly trained and given release to deal with IR issues is the rep.
I'm not sure what Talell's point is but if the idea is that it should be left to individual members to deal with management over this issue that's a dangerous and divisive attitude.
There is an old saying...why keep a dog and bark yourself?
There are enough members opting out of dog ownership as it is. :cuppa

The Big Book agreement on here dates from 2007.
They have another one, more recent, which simply states - consideration must be given to weight on delivery.
Doesn't say they have to go with drivers at all, anywhere.
Area rep -well if you can take one, then take one - it's fine.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

"Doesn't say they have to go with drivers at all" - indeed and there shouldn't be a problem on bikes if the bags are split down to the proper weight. :Very Happy and some letter boxes are big enough to take them anyway. :Very Happy

It is not simply an issue of "proper" weight.
These books could be for the last door in your bag or very near to it..
You are unlikely in the normal course of delivery to have to carry 2.5kg of dead weight all the way to your last delivery point.
The bag weight matrix was not designed with BB in mind.
That is why they should go with the vans despite RM trying to move the goalposts and some reps reluctance to challenge management over it.

The one i have is called RM Heavyweight handout for Delivery Postmen and Women,it's very similar to yours, has no date on it and still says that over 1Kg goes on vans.
It's an RM doc not CWU but i think? i got it from Branch..

i am our office rep and to be honest never realised there was a weight limit
we tend to go on size alone in our office
as long as the bag is not overweight we take everything out
is there any official limits etc as i would love to see them and use them at my next resourcing meeting
