Obtaining a job reference from Angard?

I've been asked for a reference for an application I'm filling out, saw this thread, and phoned Angard.

I've been advised to use:
Payroll Team
Angard Staffing
Charles House
Derngate
Northampton
NN1 1UE

I've been told they'll provide a basic reference saying start/end dates, confirmation you did work for them, etc.
There's no one person who deals with it, which is making this picky application form I'm filling out a bit awkward. But it's better than nothing.

I got a reference from Angard today (not sure why)

I can confirm that Ian Lister worked through Angard Staffing as a Christmas Casual / Ongoing Casual worker. (highlight the appropriate)

Date of birth: 13/08/1984

Dates worked: 05/12/2011 – 07/01/2012


As all casual workers do not work directly under the supervision of Angard Staffing, I regret that I am unable to give a detailed reference of competence.

This reference is given in the strictest confidence and without legal liability.

I got a reference from Angard today (not sure why)

After I left Angard in January, I emailed them asking about references. They sent me back pretty much as above, just confirming dates. It doesn't say much else.
