That could be a disaster for us.
If delivering packets really is the future for protecting jobs  we need to be delivering them not running a call&collect service.

Another option ... some "ordering systems" have a box marked "delivery instructions" which allows to customer to specify their preferences e.g. "If not in leave with no.28" or "If not in leave in greenhouse" - and this instruction is actually printed on the address label. If this was more widespread ... ?
"We're under model" - oh no we're not - stick your lapse elsewhere ...

I'm certainly not going to spend most my day knocking on doors trying to get rid of parcels and packets. I agree with some kind of system where those who at the weekends, drink sherry go on the internet and order crap they don't want or need knowing they will be at work when their items arrive, can have more options about how they receive their goods. This new system seems destined to fail despite the successful trial.

Is there anything in writing anywhere concerning finishing times and returning mail to the office, our CWU rep says they can't force you to work past your times, yet then tells us we can't return mail to the office (as explained earlier)
Something else that concerns me with this is the duties at our office got revised for a second time and the management increased all the duty sizes, they claim at some point packets have been counted and worked out to be no more than 29-34 call rate on each duty, which is a load of bollocks it's a heavy student area I can make that call rate in less than 2 loops, Rep isn't much use to be honest unless your in his little 'clique' Do office reps get paid to be a union rep btw?

OH and DGP1
Always leave behind enough and if you're going to be early back..............take smaller steps and you'll soon get back on track.
that happened the other day we left 3 loops behind which took us to our time (used trolleys etc), then sods law stuck in traffic on the way back and 30 minutes over :/ can't win half the time haha.

So yeah, I won't be knocking on everyone's door's , tried it few times before only to get dirty looks being told they hate their neighbour, management telling us one thing then telling us another thing five minutes later, no matter what they come up with the responsibility will always fall on the posties shoulders so when they do go missing which will happen we'll be getting a Spanish Inquisition about X packet 3 months ago what went missing, where was it left, was it safe, did the neighbour have a criminal record all the likes so yeah nuts to that.

No - well except for expenses when attending official CWU meetings etc and even Ordinary members can claim that as well.

Whatever the union says we do bring back mail when unable to complete, and many do not want to work over and moral is that low they can stick the overtime.

Mail that is brought back gets put into nexts days deliveries if it is not taken out by someone else on overtime, or management take it out instead.

Christmas this year will be the biggest nightmare yet, as posties now have to deliver all packages and parcels as well as normal mail in our area. Getting to the end of our round time..... deciding which mail to bring back, to get back to the depot in time for end of duty is a daily occurance to some..... extra walking, extra workload of packages and parels mean completion of delivery is hit and miss now.....

Sickness has increased as well..knees and legs playing up since our cycles have been taken away.... 50 to 65 year olds feel the pain of walking an extra 1 or 2 miles a day.... even our seats have been taken away from or frames.... in business moral of your workforce is paramount... but not at Royal Mail

A straight forward job ... made hard. frustrating and soul destroying...everyday our office wings its way through the day.
shambles is an underestate of the truth.... not allowed out to 9am or 9.30am some days gives you little chance of completion in duty time.....

So ideas of knocking on up to 50 doors a day is pie in the sky stupidity..... RM are not the best company when it comes to ideas of any note as history is well known

Why!?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No time in the plan for sitting down and then later having to stand up again.

If the intended recipient of the packet isn't in, they get a nice red card instead, and that's the way I will always do it. On some days my partner and I bring back more than a packet bag's worth of form lefts :left:

Christmas would be a joke with drivers knocking on any door who answers and say
"Can you take the packets for numbers 3 , 5 , 8 and 12 because they are not in" :hmmmm

Somedays 3 and a half hours to do a 4 and a quarter hour delivery, at the time we get out.... tuesday is a light day and often the only day many do not bring back mail in this area.....more so with the introduction of 2 to a van and loss of cycles....

Where is the business statement of...The morale of your workforce is paramount...... adheared to in RM.
