Delivering Mail

1. Will Royal Mail continue to deliver my mail?

Yes they will. TNT Post will simply be an alternative postal delivery provider, giving business customers greater choice.

2. Will there be two delivery people walking down my path?

Yes, it will be no different to any delivery service such as the milk, Tesco or deliveries from online retailers.

3. Why is TNT Post delivering mail?

We have been operating in the UK postal market since 2004 collecting and sorting mail for business customers before passing to Royal Mail for delivery to businesses and homes. In the Netherlands we are the equivalent of Royal Mail and have been delivering mail for several hundred years. In addition we have also started this service in Italy and Germany so we have the expertise and experience which we can then adapt for the UK.

4. What time will my post be delivered in the morning?

The needs of clients who use the industry have changed and there is less need to deliver mail before someone leaves for work. So we are being more flexible in our delivery times which will enable us to offer employment opportunities for those looking for flexible hours such as mums whose children are at school but still need to be available to drop off and pick up their children.

5. What type of mail will you be delivering?

We will be delivering business to consumer mail such as bills and statements.

6. What companies will be using TNT Post to deliver letters?

A range of our clients that have mail for the area we are delivering within.

7. What locations will be covered by the service?

We are starting the project with a trial in the West London and we will announce new locations as and when we expand the service.

8. Can I ‘opt out’ of receiving deliveries by TNT Post?

No, it is the choice of the businesses that are sending you the mail.

9. What happens if I am not at home?

If an items will not fit through the letterbox the postman will ring the doorbell to deliver the item. If the recipient is not at home and there is no answer the item will be taken back to the delivery unit and redelivered on an alternative day.

10. I live in a multi-occupancy premises, how will you gain entry?

TNT Post will have obtained a key having contacted and been authorised by the Management company or owner of the building.

11. Can you send recorded mail via this service?

No – it is not a business to consumer service, however, every item of mail will be tracked.

12. Can you explain the process from collection through to delivery?

We collect the mail from the customer, sort the mail when required, and then truck it to a mail distribution depot for delivery by postal operatives.

Our Postmen

13. How will I know if it is an authorised TNT Post Postman delivering my mail?

TNT Postmen will be wearing TNT Post branded uniforms and they will be carrying a TNT Post identity card.

TNT Post Delivery

13. What training will staff receive?

All staff will undergo thorough training before they start delivering and they will continue to receive on the job coaching and support to ensure we maintain the high standards of quality we expect from our staff.

14. How will I know my mail is safe?

The security of mail is of paramount importance, which is why all employees will be vetted in line with the Mail Integrity Code of Practice (MICOP) providing reassurance that your mail is safe.

15. Where can I apply for a job?

There is a section on The TNT Post website http://www.tntpost.co.uk/Jobs/Delivery_Jobs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

16. Are you employing Royal Mail staff?

We are happy to receive applications from experienced postal delivery people.

17. Are you putting Royal Mail staff out of work?

No, we are creating job opportunities and if Royal Mail staff affected by the modernisation would like to apply for jobs we will happily receive applications.

20. Will you be starting your own post office network?

No

21. Where will TNT Post letter boxes be located?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

This was a rumour about employing Mum's when we moved from a 2 and a half hour to a 3 hour delivery span, just a matter of time now when we are privatised in that this will happen. many posties laughed at this tought but I reckon another couple of years and it will be happening at your D.O

Very true, the latest chat in our office is about the D2D were it is starting to get more and more each month, soon we will be delivering 7 items a week as we have delivered 5+6 items recently per week.

Talk about cherry picking, However I can't see there being too many businesses using them, Time will tell I suppose. Have to see what the pricing is like, Can't imagine it will undercut us by much if they are going to require more staff/buildings/vehicles. Hope it backfires on them

The problem is they already have the customers in place through DSA.
All they have to do is deliver the final mile for less than they are giving us and it's job done.
In a densely populated place like London it might be possible although i'm sceptical.
I personally think the whole thing is a charade to put the frighteners on RM and keep the DSA price down.

DSA of which TNT have a large chunk of account for 50% if not more of the mail in our system.

"every item of mail will be tracked" - but surely not in the sense of every item being barcoded and scanned on delivery.
And conspicuous by its absence is
"24. When I move house can I set up a redirection with TNT just like I can with Royal Mail.
No - we're not interested in providing a comprehensive service, just cherry picking the most profitable bits.
