If you compleat your hours and do your job Royal Mail have to pay you the Law says so and a manager has to have a very good reason to stop pay and that is if you are absent without permission or awol if you get threats like that then the union should step in if they dont go to the CAB and get some advice, either way dont leave it to carry on.

A quick phone call to the union's solicitors about the illegal witholding of pay would have management sh!tting themselves, surely ??

They cannot legally do this to you !!!!!!!

The situation I am about to describe isn't exactly the same but:

An afternoon duty postman was told to do a schedule duty which he said he would do if he was paid the schedule rate. The Manager said no, the postman said then I'm not doing it, the Manager said you will, the postman said I'm feeling ill and I'm going home, which he did.

The Manager was apoplectic and decided to deduct 4 hours pay, the postman went to the CAB who advised him to take legal action, which he did - it took some time but they had to pay him for the hours he was "sick". He no longer works for RM which is a pity because he had once been the Rep and was a real thorn in the Managements side.

Management are desperate to force watford out the door on unoffical I/A no luck there then. we desperatly need the rest of the country to come on board do the job properly. we have managers coming in from all over the country trying their best to shaft us. :cfo :lfo
speaking to a watford driver last night and he told me one bloke at your place was deducted a days pay for cutting off and all he bought back was 8 packets!it think its obvious rm are trying to intimidate and p*ss people off so much that you all walk out,the cwu should be doing more to help out the people at watford, they send out flyers telling everyone to do the job properly but dont support people when they do it.

how many packets he brought back really doesnt matter, the fact that he worked his full day is all that counts and therefore should (and will in the end) be paid

my point is how is rm allowed to get away with it?

theyre not allowed, theyre breaking labour laws, maybe to cause upset and "panic" in the short term in an attempt to bully the workforce.

Get in!! :Very Happy
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It'll be interesting to see if we make the Watford Observer again this Friday,we have for the last 4 weeks,The local Mayor and the Watford MP Clare Ward are supposed to make another visit tomorrow(Friday)if RM managers allow them on the premise's.There is still a backlog of letters and packets kicking around so perhaps RM will try and put them off, unless it can be hidden somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!
