Employee survey results 2012
https://www.myroyalmail.com/mrm/appnews ... spx?i=1002" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Colleagues across the business continue to be proud to work for Royal Mail and have a good understanding of what our customers want.
This is amongst the headline findings from our annual employee survey, which was carried out by independent research company Ipsos MORI.
Headline Group findings include:
We achieved an overall engagement index score of 56, up five points from the snapshot survey
Across the board, there is a pattern of more positive scores
There is more support for our strategy and objectives (47%)
You understand the need for change (74%), although don’t necessarily agree with the pace of it
Job responsibilities are clearer (68%) and our communications are more honest (52%).
Your feedback shapes our future
The survey is very important. It’s only through hearing your feedback that managers and senior leaders can start taking action and make some of the changes that you want to see.
A very high 69% of you took the opportunity to share your views.
This included voting for our new Charity of the Year. We’ll announce who this is next Monday.
A positive trend in scores with room for improvement
John Duncan, director Group HR, says: ‘Firstly, I would like to thank all of you who completed the survey.
'Almost seven out of 10 colleagues across the business took part, which is a very high response rate, and this will help us to shape the organisation moving forward.
‘I am delighted that there is a general trend of more positive scores, and that you feel happier about working for Royal Mail.
‘However, there is a long way to go. We will be acting on the invaluable feedback and insight that you have given us.
'We are now analysing the results so that we can put action plans in place to act upon them.’
Next steps
The Ipsos MORI team is currently breaking down the results.
Shortly, we will communicate the local results, meaning you will be able to look at those for your team and region.
Detailed action planning using Archway* will take place during July and August so that we can start to take action to address the issues raised in the survey from September onwards.
*Archway is Royal Mail Group's online action planning tool to help improve employee engagement.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Re: Employee survey results 2012
Despite the positive spin there is no getting away from the fact that these results are dreadful.
The fact that only 47% of employees support the overall direction the business is taking says it all.

good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Employee survey results 2012
The 69% are those on short term contracts. Probably advised that their contracts not renewed if negative feedback given.

Re: Employee survey results 2012
It's a very positive spin on a small, select group of results, many of which I would interpret negatively.

Re: Employee survey results 2012
What communications - I haven't had a WTL for 4 months, and rarely get told where I'm working until the day before. All these results are a load of crap - methinks some sneaky managers have filtered out the bad ones from those too stupid to post them back themselves while they were sat in the officeour communications are more honest (52%).
Are we supposed to get unit level results soon?
