I'm about 8 weeks in and I didn't mind delivery but I've moved into the cage and I love it at the moment.
However I've applied to join the RAF not because I don't like RM but because thats what I've always planned and wanted to do. Right now it feels like a shame to leave because its a good job and pays alright and I work with a really great bunch of people. If I came back in 20 years I doubt I'd recognize the place.

The only way to truly enjoy any aspect of this job, is to accept that you have to work your hours.
Once you stop chasing the clock, the stress drains away.
The only things that upset me now are incompetent managers
and selfish collegues

Not really, I enjoy the job and always have. And I finish early and always have. There's no way on earth I could work 9-5 sat in an office, some people have just been at RM for so long they've completely lost sight of how lucky they are. The job is a piece of piss, I never stayed in a job longer than 6 days before I joined RM and i've done 15 years now.bexhil palace wrote:The only way to truly enjoy any aspect of this job, is to accept that you have to work your hours.

Seems to me from reading this forum that the people who can't stand it are the ones that work to their time every day. It hardly seems stress free from what i'm reading.

Agree with what you are saying but the problem is the incompetent managers who seemsomerset wrote:some people have just been at RM for so long they've completely lost sight of how lucky they are. The job is a piece of piss,![]()

determined to make this "piece of piss "(your words) a lot more awkward than it is just
to justify their position. I work in a MC where everything ticks over nicely until the
jobsworth with the radio appears and makes a Jeremy Hunt of it.And before you ask
yes, i did work on delivery for around 10 years so i have an idea of both sides of the job.

The job is different depending on what area you're in,what kind of managers you have, what kind of union representation you have, what you want or expect from the job,how old you are,how physically fit you are and what kind of work/duty you do.
It's just as pointless saying it's a piece of piss as it is saying it's a terrible job.

Can't agree with you more. Stop chasing the clock and do the job properly (especially with the sackable things) and it can still be a good job without the worry. On Saturday we had a postie with over 40 years service suspended, he self signed and posted a special only for it to go missing. In the last 6 months we've had countless briefs about mail integrity and I can't comprehend why people in our office are still self signing and doorstepping.

I still enjoy the work, its just the other staff.worked with a few of them for well over 20 years...familiarity truly does breed contempt.. fortunatelyi have a good set of headphones and after our revision at most spend 2 hours a day in the office with them..
on the whole the public appreciate us and that is what makes the job for me

Makes me wonder how hard, and how often, some people need to be kicked in the balls by this shyte company, before some semblance of a fightback makes itself known.
Enjoy this feckin' job? Sheeesh!!!!
