how many offices are "doing the job properly"

Post by kanuuuuuu »

In our office we started "doing the job properly" about 2 weeks before the CWU and Royal Mail started talking. We stopped and went about the job as normal during the talks (ie people rushing about to try and finish 20 mins early). Today a number (but not all) started doing it properly again, personally i failed over 3 pouches of mail that I took out today. I was wondering how many other offices are still doing this or have restarted this like we have ?

Well as you may well know,Watford are and have been doing the job properly for 8/9 weeks now ,maybe even longer.Watford management would allow them to use their cars again even during the period of "so called"calm.

Be aware if you start to do the job properly(ie....dont use private cars, get pouches dropped of ect ect),its supposed to RM policy to make you continue this system even if a deal is made,of course this depends on your DOM as to weather he has the spine to do it.

Watford has used this weapon on more than one occasion, but local management have had enough of being held to ransom every time an argument breaks out between the workforce and RM.

I think Southend are doinng the job properly and i did hear Milton Keynes were going to start as well, perhaps we need to start a list somewhere!!!!!!

I wish there was a formula to make people realise how they are hurting themselves. Once it is done there is no going back, overtime will be a thing of the past and that seems to be what is driving some of them, ghost docket will be confined to the history books.

postie, maybe you can get just the people on your own van to go with this or speak to your union rep about it.
In our office they have had to bring in about 20 new cycles for people who stopped using their cars. The van drivers now are so busy with drop bags that they cant complete their packets. also postmen are having to wait around whilst the driver is busy with a different postman before coming to them with their drop bag. As you can see its worked very well for the time its been implemented.
As for Royal Mail now making us stick to not using our cars if we choose to do the job properly - I think working until duty time is inevitable anyway, Royal Mail has said this and the union dont have an argument with it, so losing the "benefit" of a car isnt that much of a pain as you wont get anything out of it soon. Youd be surprised how nice a job (you may have forgotten) this is when youre not rushing around like a madman trying to make a bit of time on the end.

doing the job properly

today 35 members were told that they were having their pay stopped for cutting off, this means a whole days pay lost even though they have done a full days work!!! also our union rep was susspended today although he hasn't been told why!! but at least he's getting a full days pay. Management are desperate to force watford out the door on unoffical I/A no luck there then. we desperatly need the rest of the country to come on board do the job properly. we have managers coming in from all over the country trying their best to shaft us. :cfo :lfo

only a handful of rural duties use vans. majority of us use cycles. honestly the way some of them pedal . they wouldn't look out of place in the tour de france !!
