What is an ILSM?

Would somebody kindly take the time to explain what an ILSM is? Is this the new walking sequencing machine or just a new fangled term for an IMP machine?

iLSM (Solystic STAR) are the big letter sorting machines used in MCs for both batch sorting and sequencing. CSS (Solystic MARS) are the smaller machines which are used in both MCs and DOs for sequencing.

From my experience of working on them they are the biggest bag of bolts
that RM could have bought.The amount of mail this monstrosity damages
or destroys is ridiculous in comparison to our old NP 4000 machines.
Think the French makers forgot to programme the "Intelligent" part
into it.

Have they checked the alignment of absolutly everything at your MC?

I've heard that there is a higher reject rate with them

Depends if you have the FULL kit or just the basic iLSM package....

Ours has the absolute basic package - apparently, the full kit comes with it's own dust extraction system and other niceties..

Basic kit it is ......very basic, we've been told one of the five machines we have is to be fitted
with a dust extraction unit,what's the betting Lord Lucan will be delivering it and Fred Dibnah
fitting it.

We've been told that too - and our "Dust Extraction Kit" has been fitted...

It's one of the porters who hoovers out the machine during the iLSM operators Meal Relief...

Unless of course you are chucking LoveFilm DVD's through the machine then it jams frequently, breaks DVD's, and the speed drops to around 20k/hr.....

But they still tell us to continue doing it.....
