Is there any way to stop the delivery of a parcel I posted?

I had a special a few years ago,had just delivered it in a block of flats when i was pulled up by a bloke and his bird,they asked me if i had already delivered the special to such and such address and i said yes,they went on to explain that they had been scammed by a fake paypal email and were trying to stop the packet being delivered,they were too late although i wouldn't and couldn't of entertained them anyway.

Just before i went on my way the guy sad to me,the bloke you delivered it to.....is he big.

because it is the wrong item sent to the wrong people? and they will keep it as it is a lot of money and I will never see that money / item again....

I must admit I am slightly confused by some of the proceedings. Why are you posting stuff to someone you know will do you out of money without a thought?

I take it this is an eBay transaction and you have inadvertently got addresses mixed up. You appear articulate so I doubt you accidentally put the address of your biggest enemy as the receiver of these £200 worth of goods.

Contact them, You never know, they MIGHT return the contents to you. Now I am not humanity's greatest supporter but I am assured there are a few good ones out there.

Finally, you put "if it all goes to hell because people are too stiff". I think that's a little harsh. Flip the situation and see how you would feel if you paid £200, only for the sender to intercept your goods. A little voice tells me you would be on these forums asking what right Royal Mail had to hand over your parcel.

And I am afraid that's your biggest problem if you take that angle.

I sympathise 100% I have been involved with a scam to Nigeria with phones and they all went through the system because we can not divert with the mail. None of us like it, but we have to operate the system we have and then people can have faith in the security of there mail through RM. These scammers are very good and once we start returning items here and there who decides what is right and how long before those scammers start using us in there evil deeds.

I remember a case where a lady posted a lot of gold to a 'We buy gold' company ... Without realising the address was in Nigeria. I think she must have explained to her daughter what she had done and the daughter in return explained its probably a scam. Anyway the lady rings up the Mail Centre asking for the item to be stopped, She was advised that we cannot stop an item, she explained she felt as though she was a victim of a scam, The police attended and took the details of the address and details of the envelope etc... but were unable to stop the item continuing to it's destination. At the end of the day it's not Royal Mails fault for people not paying attention.
