As long as mail was endorsed, don't worry about it.

We use yellow pouching off bags, but they don't fit in any Post Box, they are just for pouching of at the Post Office, which is a load of hassle in my opinion.

just bang em back like most posties do...nearest pillar box will do...put a ??? on them and send em back...sure gaffers don't want you to take em home or claim to deliver them..once they are in the pillar box they are back in the pipeline and will be delivered at some time..you've done your bit.worked to your time,etc..chill out..they are only bits of paper for f**k sake..i am sure the great British public can cope without a letter telling them they've won ten million pounds in the Nigerian lottery and need to phone a number which costs a £1000 a minute to claim their prize...could be bills granted...but they all get here eventually...

you mean the large yellow surcharge pouches?
As said,as long as the mail is endorsed its fine.
Letters that have been through the machines already get spat back out AFAIK.
used to be the DIMs would get notified about it(I once got pulled for a non endorsed letter in a pillar bos,but given I eturned to the ofice it was accepted it wasn't me)
thats why you must endorse every letter.

I've heard about these blue bags before but never seen them. I also remember seeing the "pouched off" option in the confirmation cards. Can anyone explain the procedure behind this, I work at a delivery office which is in the mail centre so I guess pouching off and blue bags are procedures for smaller DOs that are not in a mail centre?

and not so small DOs! Its simply a way of RM getting staff to do longer deliveries; as they don't return to the DOs at shift end.

No idea. I just know that they are pouching off bags, used for pouching off undelivered packets and letters. They are slightly too big to go in post boxes, but that doesn't matter anyway as they will have packets inside which don't fit either... which leads me to the question to the people who put undelivered letters into post boxes..where do you put the undelivered packets??custard wrote:NewPostieUK wrote:We use yellow pouching off bags, but they don't fit in any Post Box, they are just for pouching of at the Post Office, which is a load of hassle in my opinion.

On a saturday, if my DO is closed when I finish or if I won't make it back in time ( and POs are shut at half 12 so never make them ) then packets get left in dropbox, endorsed of course, and a note left in blue pouch stating this for driver to collect. Tell manager when go in on the monday morning.NewPostieUK wrote:No idea. I just know that they are pouching off bags, used for pouching off undelivered packets and letters.
