National Talks - Outstanding Phase 2 Issues
ltb 437/12 National Talks - Outstanding Phase 2 Issues
Dear Colleague
National Talks - Outstanding Phase 2 Issues
In addition to the new agreements reached with Royal Mail that we reported and circulated in an LTB earlier today, significant progress has been made on all outstanding Phase 2 national talks.
The current situation is as follows:-
ColleagueShare – A proposal has been agreed in principle that includes the opportunity for a final independent audit of the legal and financial aspects of the scheme. Furthermore, we have secured a separate remuneration payment for eligible Royal Mail Group members and a commitment to develop new productivity schemes as part of our immediate Phase 3 talks. The detail of this proposal is now being drawn up as a National Joint Statement and we hope to be in a position to publish an overall agreement in the very near future. The Union will need to pursue this matter separately with POL.
Pace of Change/Delivery of BT Benefits – A firm proposal is now on the table and we hope to conclude an agreement on this in the very near future.
Outstanding Pay Related Issues (Professional Drivers in Delivery) - A firm proposal is now on the table and we hope to conclude an agreement on this in the very near future.
The Postal Executive will be considering the aforementioned further following meetings with Royal Mail due to take place next week. Further information will be sent out in due course.
Any enquiries on the above should be addressed to the DGS (P) Dept.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

If the national union have accepted £100.00 for the Colleague Shares when it should be £1700.00 then that's an insult to everyone in it and if given the chance to vote, it should be rejected !!

No worries on that score, you won't get a chance to vote - the current trend is to send the details to Branch for their opinion on what has in effect already been agreed, what's the chances of them going against the union.Red Robbo wrote:If the national union have accepted £100.00 for the Colleague Shares when it should be £1700.00 then that's an insult to everyone in it and if given the chance to vote, it should be rejected !!![]()

So it's a done deal and the branch officials will just be ratifying the agreement ??dvbuk55 wrote:No worries on that score, you won't get a chance to vote - the current trend is to send the details to Branch for their opinion on what has in effect already been agreed, what's the chances of them going against the union.Red Robbo wrote:If the national union have accepted £100.00 for the Colleague Shares when it should be £1700.00 then that's an insult to everyone in it and if given the chance to vote, it should be rejected !!![]()

a.) Branch put the proposals to the members, who reject it and consequently have to go against RM/CWU wishes and could incur a backlash to their nice little no work earner.
b.) They don't bother consulting the membership and just go with the flow, don't rock the boat and the gravy train rolls on.
Now I wonder which scenario is the the more likely

Re: National Talks - Outstanding Phase 2 Issues
For the record colleague share money was introduced without CWU agreement and the CWU always said it was a phoney share offer. The CWU during the negotiations on the Business Transformation tried to get all the outstanding monies tried to colleague share dependent on the revisons.
Many on here were critical of the CWU using the colleague share money on revisons as you claimed it was guaranteed money ! Who was right and who was wrong ?
When Royal Mail and the Government applied for European State Aid it was on the grounds that the business was a financial basket case and clearly could not be seen paying millions out in a colleague share payment.
The CWU have been in talks over securing a new incentive scheme which also has some guaranteed money attached to it.
I understand that £100 will be paid in as an entry to the new scheme and that from 2013 the Christmas bonus will be £200. The new incentive or productivity scheme will also see the possibility of more money being paid and this is where the Negotations are going to oversee.
So there is the possibility of new money on top of some permanent money.
of course if you don't wish to have the money there are a lot of worthwhile charities which you could donate to.
Every bonus scheme is dependent on something , my understanding the money set cured as a lead in and on the Christmas bonus is only dependent on us agreeing the new productivity scheme.
if your still waiting for your colleague share money than in my opinion your better chasing the end of the rainbow. the CWU will have access to Royal Mail's financial accounts but I think this will simply confirm that colleague share was a con which would pay out intially and then once Leighton and Crozier walked away would pay out nothing.

Some of what you state is correct and some of it is being fanciful with the truth dingo.dingo wrote: the CWU will have access to Royal Mail's financial accounts but I think this will simply confirm that colleague share was a con which would pay out intially and then once Leighton and Crozier walked away would pay out nothing.
The union was quite happy to list potential payouts from the colleagueshare scheme in the rewards section of BT2010 when it suited the agenda so HQ trying to take the moral high ground over the scheme is a bit rich now.
The truth is the colleague share scheme was still paying out to leavers in Sep 2010,actually at a higher rate than quoted in BT2010 so the argument that Leighton and Crozier planned it this way doesn't wash.
It was Moya herself who moved the goalposts and arguably the transformation programme that allowed her to do so.
I'm no fan of either Alan "our people" Leighton or Adam "Spanish practices" Crozier but credit where credit is due and Ms Greene can have the credit for this particular rip off.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Not really arsed with the whole who was right and who was wrong as an ordinary grunt all i know is we didn't get it and you as a union wasn't that arsed about whether we got it or not as "YOU TOLD US SO".Many on here were critical of the CWU using the colleague share money on revisons as you claimed it was guaranteed money ! Who was right and who was wrong ?
I've been here 24 years and there has never been a time when a bonus scheme hasn't been shitter or made my working `experience` worse so I won't hold my breath. The CWU have been in talks over securing a new incentive scheme which also has some guaranteed money attached to it.

No thanks I already hand over £13 a month for s**t representation or none existant one when I needed it for a tribunal case but thanks for the sarcastic comment just what I expect from a top union bod.of course if you don't wish to have the money there are a lot of worthwhile charities which you could donate to.
I think thats very stupid and crass to think that we are STILL expecting this money and only goes to show how you view the membership as nothing more than numbnuts who can't think for ourselves,as for the union having more access to Royal Mail's financial accounts could you try and find the money Royal Mail owes me for taking two days pay off me when a dog bit me in 2002.Thanks.if your still waiting for your colleague share money than in my opinion your better chasing the end of the rainbow. the CWU will have access to Royal Mail's financial accounts but I think this will simply confirm that colleague share was a con which would pay out intially and then once Leighton and Crozier walked away would pay out nothing.

Re: National Talks - Outstanding Phase 2 Issues
Now here we go again with a productivity scheme for which we will receive £100 for agreeing to it - so lets see it. In fact no, lets not bother, £100 less tax and insurance is feck all especially pro rata and the carrot is being dangled again, like there may be more money and there may not. Those of us with some service have had a crock full of working harder and harder for jam tomorrow and still eating dry bread.
In fact ft was wrong because people who left pre December 2011 received the payment - so if it was a phantom payment, how was it not a phantom payment if you happened to be leaving the business?
As for the new christmas bonus 2013 - is that in perpetuity or just a one off. There again it is promises to keep and if the sell off is 2014 what guarantee is there that ANY of the proposed schemes are going to be honoured by the new owners.
As this is a renegotiation for the end of the BT2010, which clearly hasn't worked, why would we not be given the new proposals and have a vote on it?
I mean the phrase "the CWU have been in talks to secure a new productivity scheme" says it all................they are totally out of touch. How many have yet to receive the payment for transformation.

Re: National Talks - Outstanding Phase 2 Issues
How much more productivity do the RM want from its workforce. Afterall, it is not the rank and file that cause much of the problems. It's mostly the incompetent managers, who bully and harass staff because they do not have a clue on what to do, also it's not just frontline managers. £100 as an incentive, £200? What a joke.

What a lot of ungreatful bar-stewards, £100... £100.... And all you have to do is sign-up to a few more savings, ohh and World Class Mail and a few other minor detailed changes for the rest of your working life's.
If I didn't know better it's as if you'd lost faith in the "Deal of the century" , ok, ok its a deal from the 15th century, but whats a few hundred years of hard fought for rights between friends.
I for one have signed up to the "Billy for a seat on RM's board ( Plus pies & expences )" email newsletter. I even recieve the CWU's " I love Moya" news letter ( It drops through my letterbox every month disguised as the "VOICE" magazine )

You only pay £3 a week for this...You know the saying " you pay peanuts, you get....."
