Getting ready for privatisation? Slim the organisation down and spend money on new infrastructure, vans, css, backless frames nice little pickup for the new owners and seats on the board for the CWU to keep them compliant. How long have we got I wonder.

Some interesting moves, it is no surprise that Cameron has been put in charge of the South East and most of London including South London where very few delivery office revisons have been introduced. We shall see by the appoint of the delivery directors whether Cameron intend to attempt to attack London like Royal Mail tried and failed in 2009.

Gerry O Rourke being sent to Scotland looks a kick in the teeth , you used to get sent to Covertry but for someone who lives in leafy Buckinghamshire Scotland is pretty far to commute, is it reward for the lack of progress on delivery revisons in London and the South East given some of the failures to achieve the quality of service figures required by off comm is several South East postcodes ?

Rob Jenson leaving the National Delivery directors job is also intresting as it now leaves Mark Fellows in charge of the delivery job a man with little experience of the role and you have to assume that Royal Mail intends to operate more in the regions rather than discuss issues at National level. Robs jensons area also includes two London postcodes North and East and is a massive region covering all the way from Anglia up to Yorkshire.

It's been coming for years.
What did a lead DSM do other than pass paperwork up and down.
You can't make decisions at that level because you are have a Director above and a DSM below whose job it is to make decisions.
It was a very expensive management no man's land.

Having crossed swords with Mr Cameron at various stages of his career dingo i would imagine there is only one reason he has been sent down there and it isn't his diplomacy and negotiating skills.

We had a new DSM start last week, so is he redundant already? or are they just changing the job title?

Woof woof no both East and North London are strong areas and it's is strange how they have split London. I could protentially understand that East London going to the area which has Romford as Romford Mail Centre will be sorting the East London inward mails from the end of September. However North London's work is performed by Mount Plesant and that is in Cameron's area so it is strange why they have split London in the way it has. It will not effect the way we organise in London the polices we agree will be the same whether we have offices in either Rob Jensons area or Steve Camerons area.

Fish I have also had the pleasure of Mr Camerons charm skills and it maybe be a time once again to fix bayonets. many managers have tried and many have failed but it will be intresting to break us and will sure test this new relationship ethos.

North region is Scotland, Lake District, North East as far south as Leeds controlled from Edinbrough.

Word is that the business is not increasing the rating on Royal Mail as quick as it would like in order for any privitisation of Royal Mail to fetch the righ price demanded by the Government some experts now believe that the Government may not even agree that it should be sold in 2014 unless it achieve the value which the Government has put on it.

For those who may not be familiar with the situration when a company has been in a negative cash flow postion as Royal Mail were when they had the pension deficit around their necks their ratting was poor. you have to increase this to obtain the maximum sale prize for the company and to attract buyers who wish to purchase the business at the right price that the Government ultimately want to sell it at.

Moya Greene's plan was for a sell off in the early part of 2014 but with Europe in such a uncertain postion who knows what will happen not only to this country but the rest of world in the 18 months till 2014.

It does look like a blatant attempt to split London.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Steve Cameron taking a hard line and Rob Jenson a more subtle approach obviously making it more difficult to organise the whole of London as one.

fish you obviously don't know Rob Jenson ! Subtle he just does not do , he does bull dozing and we have had plenty of clashes with him over the years.
