There can't surely be any holiday 'shortage' as if you have 4 weeks then your entitled to TAKE 4 weeks. Surely RM are obliged to open the required number of weeks to ensure that no body has to carry holiday over to next year. Our DOM has had to open extra weeks 3 times so far. As to being able to take your holiday when YOU want, well thats another matter

At Derby we have 26 weeks we can book from now until April 2013.The rest have been locked down.Ours is a large delivery office and we only have one manager that does the annual leave for all the posties.when he is off work it gets left until he returns.I have been unable to get the last 4 weeks i have attempted to book,even when my division is overstaffed! Availability is now over the office, not by division.A lot of posties were made to take their leave last march as not to take much over,which we thought was wrong.This is inevitable again and will be worse.Some people are asking if Royal Mail will buy leave back off the people who have purchased leave.I would doubt it.
