MTSF question.

Greetings one and all.

I am slowly going through the MTSF document which is about 60 pages long.

The thing is the document refers to other documents for instance here is a quote:

"This document forms part of the managing the surplus framework and should be read in the context of the framework as a whole and all the documents which constitute it"

Does anyone have any idea what these other documents are, what other documents should I be reading?

Any advice appreciated.

The reference you quote is repeated in many places throughout the MTSF document, usually at the top of each appendix.

All this means is that each separate section of MTSF is interlinked, for example Appendix 5 deals with the Criteria for Offering Voluntary Redundancy whilst Appendix 6 deals with Vountary Redundancy Terms.

There are many occasions where something in one part of the document refers to or is dependant on another part of it. Hence the 60 pages!

The "framework" bit is MTSF itself - the Managing the Surplus Framework

Are there any other documents I should be reading though, maybe I should read the business and transformation agreement.

I mean if you were in my shoes IE facing closure and possible re-location of jobs what documents would you or anyone else here recommend reading?

The key documents are the BT2010 Agreement and MTSF.

If you are a CWU rep you should ensure you get some training on them - this should normally be done anyway.

If you are not, but are clearly interested, don't expect to know everything just by reading the documents. It's best to understand the key principles and then check the detail as and when issues arise.

If your office is at risk of closure and/or possible re-location, you should speak to your local/area rep or Branch as they will be dealing with the issues already.

I'm not sure what you mean.

are you in the north east region(i know they have one)? if so ask your rep to explain or show you the "resourcing approach" it exsplains how,when,where and what proceedures apply on moving to delivery/other MC's etc

Well my resourcing approach question didn't get very far at all.

I actually don't think our rep had ever heard of it although he kept saying we may refer to the "London agreement".
I don't know what the London agreement is but I'm guessing they are looking at previous models of closures and referring to them.

It seems the best thing to do is to try and find out how other centres have dealt with closures but getting hold of this sort of information will be quite tough I think.

The whole thing about re-location seems to be Royal mails definition of what is a reasonable job and what is a reasonable distance to drive to it.

But just what does reasonable mean these days? I just dunno.
