Owner sounds like a class A prick to be fair. Why not either: a) put a cage behind the letter box? b) put a box on the wall? c) put a box on the gate?

Sad story but one that could have been avoided, he even stated that he knew a dog lived there so he should have used a dog peg or even NOT put his finger through the letter box, saying that is there a claim for losing part of his finger?

I can understand where you are coming from but what has this owner done to prevent an obviously vicious dog attacking? Learned behavior I say. Like these muppets thinking it's a right old laff instead of disciplining their pets.

Dogs can be trained not to attack under curtain circumstances. Recording them doing it is not really helpful and probably reinforces it.
